Magnus Jonsson replied on December 25, 2009 12:49 to the question "How do I pay for an upgrade to somebody elses Expono account?" in Expono:
It's currently no simple way to sponsor someone with an upgrade to their account.
We working on new payment options that will be available in January, where you can purchase "GIFT" codes which another user can use to upgrade their account.
The only way to do this today is to login as them and upgrade their account.

Magnus Jonsson replied on December 20, 2009 21:18 to the question "Who links to my picture(s)?" in Expono:
Very good question.
We should definitely store more information, like referral links, linking into a photo etc. Most of this information is accessible in logs today, and we store enough information to make sure "Views" are unique and not being faked.
But, you are right. It should be possible to see who "links" to a photo. Traffic stats. We have ticket for this, I've attached a link to this post and bumped the ticket to have this implemented sooner.

Magnus Jonsson replied on December 15, 2009 21:50 to the question "Re-upload, update or replace pictures?" in Expono:
That function actually exists and it's used by the API and by some other third-party stuff, though we haven't enabled the function for the end-user yet.
However, there is no reason for us to not enable it other than we have to think about how it can be abused, especially now when we see spammers finding an interest in Expono.
I've written a ticket to enable it. My guess is that it will be placed a "Replace Photo" link under the "More Options" menu on the photo page.
Magnus Jonsson replied on December 14, 2009 16:52 to the idea "Add a "report spam" button? Filter reported spammers?" in Expono:
We don't have a report spam button yet. The only way to report "inappropriate content" (be it spam, nudity, or whatnot) is by clicking on the link "Flag as inappropriate" on the photo page.
Photos flagged as inappropriate will popup in a back office tool where we can change status (visible) and safety_level (safe/moderate/restricted). We can also "block" users if necessary.
But, you are right, it's only a matter of time until we need to implement a "report spam user" or "block user" button for our users.
Oh, and I've seen much worse spammers on Expono :-)

It's on our long lists of stuff we want to do. We haven't looked into it that much, but I hope we can get to it soon enough. In the meanwhile you can try to embed a google map which points to your Expono KML URL.
Read more about using Expono's KML support with Google Maps and Google Earth here.
Or even better, try to find or create a Google Gadget that uses Google Maps and fetches KML info from any KML url and "boom" you got a widget anyone can use for any KML file :-) Maybe that's what we should do? Hmm...

A comment on the idea "Shortcut to backup feature" in Expono:
Unfortunately it won't be usable anywhere else as 90% of the code is custom written for Expono, everything from auth, requests to replies (no standards here) and it requires service side changes to work. – Magnus Jonsson, on December 07, 2009 17:48

Thanks for letting us know :) We simply have to create a function to remove illegal chars if found. It all depends on the OS and filesystem. Example: Brackets under OSX is perfectly valid. – Magnus Jonsson, on December 05, 2009 14:36
A comment on the update "Expono Downloader (beta) - Ready for Testing" in Expono:
The problem is that it can't create the file. There are two reasons for that. 1) Invalid characters. 2) Write access denied. In you case I believe it has to do with write access. Try changing download path. – Magnus Jonsson, on December 05, 2009 14:00

Magnus Jonsson posted an update in Expono on December 04, 2009 21:56:
Expono Downloader (beta) - Ready for TestingThe Expono Downloader for Windows, Mac and Linux is ready to be tested!
This is a very simple application that let's you download all your photos with one click, or select photos from a specific album to download. Auto-organize your photos in folders based on the album structure on expono. Cancels download without corrupting downloads. Choose to save the files in the Original Filename or the Expono Filename (global unique).
The purpose of this app is to make it easy to restore lost photos, or just retrieve all your originals from Expono. Future releases might include more advanced features such as, the ability to download meta data (comments, tags etc) related to a photo. Or, even download photos from friends accounts. But for now, it's a "insurance" app for our users to easily restore the content they upload. Using Expono as an online backup now makes more sense with this application available.

How can I help?
First and foremost, find bugs. We won't add more features in v1.0. Feature request are however welcome for v2.0. Ok, got it. What can fail?
- Weird characters in albums/photos behave differently on different operating systems.
- Unexpected data response from the servers which caused by weirdness in your accounts.
Who can run this app?
Currently, everyone with a PLUS account and BETA flagged user. Currently we have BETA flagged all PLUS users (a little pen and green bug is displayed on your profile photo)
