A comment on the problem "Suggestions to Improve the Donations Page" in Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition:
Thanks for the suggestions! We need to take a look at that page and make sure it is up to date, and I will make sure to include all the information that is useful. ^_^ – maiki, on January 26, 2009 23:04-

I was made aware of this issue earlier this afternoon. It is tied to the issue with he website being down a few days ago.
I am currently working to bring it back up, and I will be posting updates at http://bikesiliconvalley.org/content/543.
maiki replied on December 10, 2008 19:16 to the problem "Misleading links in bulletin email" in Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition:
While that may be a technique used by phishing scams, it is not actually the spirit in which we use them. Groundspring is the service provider for our mailing list, and by replacing the links in their e-mail like that, they end up redirecting to the actual page and logging that it was clicked through. This is actual a technique for measuring what the readers on the bulletin are interested in.
I agree that it looks weird, and I am glad that your client catches that it is not the same URL. I am personally very wary of these types of metric techniques. That is why since the beginning I have always tried to make the bulk of the links in the content of the bulletin links that are both track-able through Groundspring, but also leave the ability to copy and paste in the URI directly in your web browser.
Except for the table of contents, of course, I almost always have all the links show up that way. No one has mentioned this before, and it does provide us with valuable metrics that assist us in providing information to our members. So, what I can tell you is that it is quite intentional, we have made a note of this, I regret that our actions are not completely obvious, and we will discuss this in our next staff meeting. ^_^-

I checked the logs and everything seems to be working. I created an account and got the notification instantly.
Please check your junk mail folder for mail coming from bikesiliconvalley.org. If there is no message there you can try having it resend you your password by visiting http://bikesiliconvalley.org/user/pas....
I hope that helps! ^_^

Calendar formatting issues (behind the sidebar)The calendar (http://svbcbikes.org/calendar) had an issue in certain web browsers due to the title of an event having a long extended word in it. I broke the word up and it apparently solved the formatting issue.
This is, of course, part of a larger problem of us having a fixed-width content area on the website. In the coming months SVBC will be adopting a new design, and this will be addressed as part of that. In the meantime, please start a discussion on this site or fill out the contact form (http://svbcbikes.org/contact) if there are formatting issues.

Date/calendar formatting issues resolvedOur website, which uses the Drupal CMS, had a formatting issue where the dates on events showed the full date for both starting and ending time. Also, events that happened on multiple dates would only show the date for the first day.
Both of these issues have been resolved with the updated Date and Calendar modules. Due to the amount of content on the site some date formatting may remain redundant. If so please supply feedback here or at http://svbcbikes.org/contact.

Searching the SVBC WebsiteThere is a search box on the sidebar of the website, found on every page. Our website is indexed hourly, including comments.
Is there a better placement for the search box? Where would you put it on the page?
