you can't leave by clicking on a leave button, but you can send an email to your personalized email@bkite.com with the body "leave" and you'll be checked out and receive a confirmation email like this:
>> "You've checked out and are now in no man's land. When you want to check in someplace else, reply with @address or ?businessname"
not sure what your personal bkite email address is?
http://brightkite.com/help/email_guide
i originally added this email address to my iphone contact list (under business name bkite) to post photos from the location i was at. it's just as easy to checkout / leave this way.
it's not a perfect solution, but it is a solution.
hope this helps,

I use the web and iPhone versions exclusively. Is there still no way to leave via those interface? – Eric, on August 05, 2008 20:29

awesome.
2. modified - http://www.tweetburner.com would be exponentially cooler than tinyurl or twhurl alone.
4. clarified - sorry for the confusion, I meant to say the user's (aggregated) profile displayed on their lifestream page/tab would be great. The way the lifestream is aggregated for the user is great, but a nice add would be displaying their profile.
5. clarified - right, my bad ;)
7. High fives to everyone @ socialthing, great job. – malbiniak, on June 27, 2008 14:22

1. Agreed. We're wanting to implement an @ me feature that basically takes everything that's directed at you, no matter what service, and displays it here.
2-3. Understood, we'll look into it.
4. If I understand you correctly, you want us to piece together the various accounts someone has on various sites and display their aggregated lifestream correct?
5. They already do this, but not quite in the "ticker" format. If you're, say, on the Settings tab, and new updates come in, we notify you. Because of UI restrictions, when you click on the "Show upates" we'll pop you back over to the Home tab and load them in there.
6. We'll look into it...-

Sort tweet replies/DMs, aggregate and display profiles, tinyurl.Sorry, this isn't blog spam, but I've expanded on my ideas @ http://www.albiniak.com/social-media/...
I really, really like socialthing 2.0. I've ditched twhirl in favor of using this full time. I don't care about a desktop/AIR app. Keep improving what you've got going - it's a great (social)thing!
1) It should be easier to find historical tweet replies and direct messages. If I missed it, I missed it.
2) Tinyurl (or similar) integration a la Twhirl.
3) Twitpic (or similar) integration a la Twhirl.
4) Aggregate profiles for the user's lifestream I clicked on and display it. Don't make me click again (and leave your site) to see it.
5) Have the lifestream updates follow me around the site. If this doesn't make sense, spend some time on http://www.thesixtyone.com
6) Summize / twemes integration - it'd be so dope if I could follow a #hashtag as a lifestream right in socialthing. I'd bump this to my #1 feature request.
I'll buy the coffee/beer/aspirin :)-

You can use the "Leave" command via SMS or email for right now. There is not a way to do this on the main site or mobile versions at this time, but we are working on it. You can find the command listed here: http://brightkite.com/help/sms_reference – Lesley, on June 05, 2008 16:17

/me scratches head. I only use the webui (mobile or full glory) - is the "leave" command part of the txt commands, or am I somehow totally going blind and not seeing this on the web? – malbiniak, on June 05, 2008 12:45
