I just downloaded 1.1.2, and the problem is fixed for me. Yay! Thanks, Songbirdians. Now I can go back to using my favourite audio player.

I can tell you that it happens at the beginning of a song and continues throughout it until I correct it by clicking on the volume slider. And it will happen again if you play the song again. It happens on about half of my songs, gotten from *ahem* a variety of sources. It seems to happen on the same songs predictably.

I'd like to post more about this bug. However, I can't really use Songbird with this bug because I can't really have my ears blasted out periodically.

I have this problem, too. I have disabled the audio normalization and still have the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, Andrew. I've turned off audio normalization, but I am still having the problem.

Are there any other suggestions? This problem is really annoying. I have to reset the volume nearly every time a track changes.

Seeqpod is showing up in left-hand panel as "&servicepane.seeqpodsearch". Clicking it no longer opens the Seeqpod search interface.

Volume level erratic after update to Songbird 1.1.1

I just updated to Songbird 1.1.1 on Windows XP SP2, and now volume level of the tracks is erratic.

No matter what volume level I had set, each track I play has a different volume level. If I click on the volume level slider thing, it sets the volume correctly again.

Thanks, boosh. Your suggestion and steps are excellent. I did just what you suggested already, including automating copying and editing the xml file. I just set it to run once a day, though since the library doesn't change that often.

I'm hoping that pointing to a non-native iTunes library is part of the upcoming feature set. That would rock, especially since Songbird is cross-platform.

Thanks for the response, but I'm not sure it will work as I'm hoping. I am using Songbird in Ubuntu, but the iTunes library is on a networked Windows share.

I would have to re-do the instructions every time the Windows share library changed since I'm manually changing the local Ubuntu playlist file. Also, would I have to change the path to the Windows share path? Surely there has to be a way to point to a iTunes library on a non-local path. – Malcolm, on February 12, 2009 06:53

I'm running Ubuntu, but my media is attached to an XP box. I can see the media in Ubuntu, but not from Songbird running on it. Whazzup?
