I've protected my account. When I log out and do a search with my username, few unprotected tweets come up, but when I click on my username, it says "This person has protected their tweets", and there is no button or link to request approval to follow.

From where and how can people request approval to follow a private account?

Does the link/button for request appear only when you're logged in?
