Hi Chris,
we do not have any experience with installing CenceMe on jailbroken phones and I do not exclude that it could be a possible issue.
Anyway, let's try on more thing: did you remove the Additional Permissions (for status and photo upload) as well when you performed the steps in http://cenceme.org/faq.html#7 (sorry there isn't currently any instruction to do so in the FAQ, I'll update it).
To remove them go to you Facebook Home page, then click Edit on the Applications plane on the right and then the Addition Permissions tab. Remove all the permissions, cenceme from your facebook page and phone. Then start the installation again.
Let me know.

Hello,
thanks for your post. I take the opportunity to explain how the application release process on App Store works.
Any iPhone app must be revised by Apple before being made available on App Store. The Apple revision process takes anything between "few days" and over a week and unfortunately we do not have any control over it.
We fixed the software and submitted the new version of CenceMe 2 days ago. At this point the ball in on Apple's hands and there is no way for us to speed up the process. We envision to see CenceMe 1.1.1 out on App Store sometimes next week (hoping early next week).
Patience is the only think we can suggest for now :)
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,

Problems with 2.1 firmwareHello,
we just realized that the new CenceMe version presents some incompatibility with iPhones where 2.1 firmware is installed. The issue is that the user might see some "Busy" and "Error" popups when uploading an IconMe icon or photo associated with custom text. However, this doesn't prevent the application to work (icons and photo are still uploaded).
For this reason we'll momentarily stop iPhones with 2.1 firmware from using the new CenceMe version currently on AppStore until the problem is fixed. We are about to push a new version of the software compatible with 2.1 and it will be available on App Store in few days.
To all users with 2.1 firmware: please be patient!! The fix will come soon.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Best,
-emiliano

ok, we have just confirmed that we are not getting location information from your phone. Looking back to our users email record I found a case similar to yours, where the user was not able to get location to work. The user turned WiFi off and location started working, stopped after a while, and started working again constantly from the next day.
Try turning WiFi off, turn your phone off and back on, and see if that helps. After that turn WiFi back on.

Hello,
we occasionally experienced some phones not reporting location information. This is something that unfortunately is outside our control. Try to remove CenceMe from the phone, install it back again, and activate it (making sure that at activation time you give CenceMe permission to use location information. You are asked via a pop-up message). If that doesn't work I suggest you to upgrade the firmware of your phone.
If you send us your Facebook ID (using cenceme-help@cenceme.org) we can look at your problem closely. The Facebook ID can be found in the URL address bar when in your Facebook profile page:
http://.....new.facebook.com/profile.php?id=12345678
and Facebook ID = 12345678
A new version of CenceMe is about to be released in few days with new exciting features, but the problem you are experiencing is not related to the current available version.
Moreover, can you please be more specific about the issue you have with the CenceMe box in Facebook?
We'll be glad to help you,
best,

About the crash at startupHi all,
after a number of users had questions about the reason of the crash of the CenceMe application at the launch, we thought it was worthwhile to post here some more information.
The reason is not related to CenceMe itself, but to a known issue with Apple's application distribution infrastructure. You can get more info from here: http://tinyurl.com/5agyyl
One of the fixes to the problem could be upgrading the iPhone firmware to 2.0.2 for now.
We'll keep you posted as we gather more info.
Best,

Hi Dan,
sorry to hear that. This is something we have never experienced on our phones, so it is hard to come up with the final solution at the moment. We usually have been always able to get CenceMe working following the steps I mention above. However, we are about to release a new version of CenceMe, so please check App Store in few days.
Just one question: what iPhone model do you have? The old iPhone or the 3G?
This information would be of great help for us .
Sorry again,
-emiliano
emiluzzo replied on August 15, 2008 02:05 to the problem "crashing" in CenceMe:
ok Mike. Try to take the following actions in the order I list them:
1. Remove the CenceMe widget from you Facebook profile. To do this see FAQ number 7 in here: http://cenceme.org/faq.html#7. Make sure you are removing the application and not the box (If you removed the box refer to FAQ #8).
2. Clear the cache and cookies of iPhone Safari. To do that go inside Settings > Safari. At the bottom click on Clear History, Cookies, and Cache. Reboot the phone.
3. Uninstall the CenceMe software from your phone (again FAQ #7).
4. Install CenceMe back again on the phone from App Store and activate it giving all the permissions.
If this still doesn't make it work, please send us an email at
cenceme-help@cenceme.org with your Facebook ID, that you can find accessing your Facebook profile page and reading the URL in the browser address bar. The URL looks like this:
...facebook.com/profile.php?id=12345678
12345678 = Facebook ID
Thanks a lot and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hello Mike,
I'll be glad to help you.
Could you please tell me exactly what happens and in what sequence from the time you press the activation button after having installed CenceMe on your phone and the time you see the crash?
Also, are you allowing CenceMe to use your Facebook information? You'll be asked whether to allow CenceMe to use your Facebook info or not during the activation process while on the Facebook pages (you'll see tick boxes where you have to enable the tick mark).
Please, let me know.

emiluzzo replied on July 30, 2008 02:05 to the question "Buddy Map never shows location!!! gives error" in CenceMe:
Hi there,
this might be related to a known issue that will be fixed in the upcoming new CenceMe release by mid August. Particularly, the problem could be related to some of the characters entered in the text associated to an IconMe icon.
For example a dash ("-") makes the map view not to be viewable. In this case, upload a new icon with different text. Again, this will be fixed in the upcoming release.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and stay tuned! A CenceMe upgrade with new exciting features is coming up.
Best,

emiluzzo replied on July 25, 2008 21:44 to the question "Facebook and revoking location for a given friend?" in CenceMe:
in order to stop you friends seeing your location you have to use the Privacy settings on the CenceMe application on the phone.
Bring CenceMe up on your iPhone, go to Settings (which is next to the IconMe tab) and then tap "Privacy". You see a page with two switches: one is to avoid your friends seeing your activity, the other is for location.
Right now, by turning location OFF none of your friends can see your location. So far, it is not possible denying location to just particular users.
Cheers,

emiluzzo replied on July 25, 2008 21:39 to the question "IconeMe not changing?" in CenceMe:
oh I see.
Actually what you have to do in order to see an icon on the home view and Facebook is:
1. select an icon from the picker;
2. double tap the icon you selected;
3. decide whether you want to upload some text as well or not.
Everything is explained in a message that comes up if you click the "Help" button positioned in the right hand side of the top bar in the IconMe view.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Best,
-emiliano
