A comment on the question "Feeds not loading into Twitter" in twitterfeed:
Yes, I'm sure the feeds themselves are fine - the issue is around accessing them. Because we (and I imagine Feedburner too) make tens of thousands of requests to Yahoo! Pipes servers every hour, they have implemented whitelisting that will let our requests go through - otherwise such large volumes will be throttled to avoid abuse. It looks like it's that whitelisting which is currently broken, so our requests are throttled and not getting through - Yahoo! Pipes returns an error page instead for these requests, which then results in the "we couldn't parse your feed" (because we got an error page from Yahoo! instead of the actual feed).
Hope this makes sense, and sorry again for the problem. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 19:19
A comment on the question "Feeds not loading into Twitter" in twitterfeed:
Just an update on these 3 feeds:
- http://feeds2.feedburner.com/xolagraf... appears to be up to date and subscribed at the pubsubhubbub hub, we seem to have received and posted the last post (2 Nov)
- http://feeds2.feedburner.com/theunapo... was the feed that had the issue with missing notifications initially, but now it looks as if we are receiving them, so I have switched this feed back to real-time in the hope that the pubsubhubbub notifications continue coming in now
- the 3rd feed (the flickr feed) isn't a realtime feed, and seems to be polled ok, as far as I can see. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 16:24

We made a change earlier today which we were hoping would fix this issue (see http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfee...)
Let me know if this doesn't fix it, and you continue to see the problem.
A comment on the question "Feeds not loading into Twitter" in twitterfeed:
For some reason we are not receiving pubsubhubbub notifications for this feed, even though we have succesfully subscribed it at the hub, so for now I h ave set the feed back to polling, at least until we figure out the reason. Sorry for the issue, hopefully it should start posting again now. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:40

This is an issue with Yahoo! Pipes at the moment, see http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfee...
Sorry for the problems, but this is unfortunately out of our control. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:24

Brightonfeed - the problem is with Yahoo! Pipes, and unfortunately out of our control (see http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfee...)
It sounds like all high-volume apps (e.g. Feedburner) have the same problem as us.
I do hope Yahoo! will sort this soon, and have emailed my contacts there yesterday, but not heard back. However, given it appears to affect not only twitterfeed, I'm hoping this will be fixed quickly. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:22

A comment on the problem "Feeds Updated - But Twitterfeed Saying It hasn't checked in 3 days" in twitterfeed:
I have set the feeds under your account for which we don't receive any pubsubhubbub notifications back to fetch mode, meaning we'll start fetching the feeds for now, rather than listening for pubsubhubbub notifications. This will hopefully make these accounts post again in the short term.
In the longer term we'll try and figure out the actual reason behind it - I honestly can't see any reason why some of your feeds send us notifications via pubsubhubbub, and other don't, when they're all feedburner feeds, and are all subscribed at the pubsubhubbub hub (I've checked, and we subscribed them all). We'll try and get more info from the pubsubhubbub guys also, hopefully there's an explanation for this somewhere..
Sorry for the problems, hopefully setting the feeds back to regular polling should work in the short term, but let me know if the problem persists. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:17
A comment on the problem "RSS feed valid but twitterfeed reports cannot parse" in twitterfeed:
This is almost certainly related to a problem that Yahoo! Pipes seem to have at the moment, see http://getsatisfaction.com/twitterfee... – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:06
A comment on the problem "RSS feed valid but twitterfeed reports cannot parse" in twitterfeed:
Strange - feedvalidator does show an issue, but I don't think that's the reason (http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?ur...), although of course it won't hurt to fix it just in case.
Other than that, what I noticed is that the first time I tried to parse the feed it failed, but after that it worked ok. Is it possible that the feed is cached for a time, so when it's fetched the first time after some interval it does some processing (perhaps leading to our request timing out?), but on subsequent fetches it works because it quickly serves a cached page?
This is all just theory, but it seems strange that the only time I managed to reproduce the error was the first time I tried.. – Mario Menti, on November 07, 2009 15:04

I can't find a feed URL that contains the "pickmeupart.com" domain in the system. As far as I can tell these are the feeds in the database:
- posting to @jcohlmeyer:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/jrc9Blog
http://feeds.feedburner.com/jrc9artwork
- posting to @alpineskinl:
http://apnl.jrc9.ca/rss/index.xml

Does that help?

It looks like this is a general problem with Yahoo! Pipes at the moment, and doesn't only affect twitterfeed - this link suggests feedburner have the same problem as us: http://discuss.pipes.yahoo.com/Messag...
Mario Menti posted an update in twitterfeed on November 07, 2009 11:33:
update to the way we post to facebookIn response to user feedback, we have made a couple of changes to the way we post updates to facebook:
1. we think we fixed a bug with encoding of non-English characters in Facebook posts (but haven't yet tested extensively, so let us know if you still have problems). HTML entities like rich quotes may still cause a problem (e.g. things like ’ characters), we're still working on possible fixes to that.
2. by default we post a nicely formatted post, with title/link/description, and not a status update
3. however, if you change your settings (under "advanced settings" in twitterfeed) to post "title only" or "description only", rather than the default "title & description" setting, then we send the relevant content as a status update (in the same format it would appear on twitter)
We made this change because the vast majority of users prefer the way we post by default, but some users may want to post shorter, unformatted, status updates, and these would very often already use the "title only" option.
Hope this makes sense, please let us know any comments and any problems you may find.

Problems with Yahoo! Pipes feedsOver the last couple of days we've seen lots of "error 999" being returned from Yahoo! Pipes. From what I can tell something has happened to their whitelisting of twitterfeed IP addresses, because we see these errors on machines that have been whitelisted by Yahoo! in the past. In other words, feed fetching from our servers is being throttled by Yahoo! Pipes.
If you have a Pipes feed that currently says "we couldn't parse this feed", then the above is almost certainly the reason. I have notified our contacts at Yahoo! to tell them there seems to be a problem with the whitelist, but have yet to hear back. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes you.
