I have been experiencing the same "tiling" issues for over 6 months. I googled "tiling problem and comcast" and 508,000 hots came back. It is apparent that the multiple trips to my home to measure signal strength are only a smokescreen as to the real problem. They are trying to fit 10lbs of crap in a 5lb bag.
Today will be the 4th visit I am recieving from Comcast. I already know what will happen today. The tech will come in, check for splitters, which I only have 1 for the cable modem, measure the signal, call the home office to check for outages, and then tell me to log the times this problem occurs. I have a list of times and when I show him he will take the list and then tell me they cant do anything with it because the problems are in the past and they need to see it occur.
I contacted the exec. offices here in NJ and they obviously dont care. I am sure they will when Verizon Fios comes marching in. The good news is Verizon doesnt outsource everything so they will be able to answer your questions in a timely manner.
Comcast people get your Resumes cleaned up because your asses are going to get laid off. HAHA!

You are not alone Matt. I sympathize with your situation and wish you luck continuing with comcast.
I think it's important to point out [to comcast] here, that it seems like this situation is not outside the norm. All the techs are content to do is go in the house, swap splitters and say it's all good. It seems that they rarely solve any problems in one trip. Comcast, THAT is why you fail.

Finally, a resolution:
The HGTV-HD and History-HD problems have been fixed (although HGTV-HD still looks a little grainy compared to other HD channels). I was contacted by a customer support rep who issued a credit to my account, and offered to give me a 6 month promo on my internet for 29.99.
At this point, I'm just happy to be able to finally use my TV the way it was intended (and the way I was being billed). I'm still unhappy that it took 6 months, 10+ tech visits to my house, a blog post, and 20+ phone calls to get it fixed, but thats the way it goes with Comcast it seems. I'm still on the fence about leaving. Comcast can thank TiVo for that, as thats the only thing keeping me with them.
Good luck to all those out there in similar situations.

I'M a Comcast user for my Internet service only .
You do know that you can get your Phone service through Comcast i think its
$29 a month i'm not for sure of the price but its a close figure.
Verizon is trying to get users to switch over to thier service to get you on that slowwwww Dsl.
Plus keep you on that high priced Phone service..
Verizion has a $79.99 high speed internet service that thier now offering .
Don't you think thats higher than-> $35 a month on comcast?
I use Direct-tv because of more Channels .........
You will find out you will lose in the long run.
Its almost like your saying that we should also quit buying Microsofts Products.
I Myself don't want Verizon Internet or the phone service.
And coming Soon really now you can buy a dish for about a little over 300 .
bucks and not pay no monthly fee you won't get as many channels but thier adding new ones all the time.Plus next year this will before people that don't have the cable out in the sticks plus the "Local tv Channels will be going up on the transponders......................
Then you won't need the Cable channels pat one price and you own your dish plus no-more fees for your tv service..........

This reminds me one particular time that a technician was supposed to come out. I had given specific instructions to call a different number as the number on my account would be unavailable. The technician ignored this. On top of that, I was standing 10 feet inside of the front door (which was glass) when the technician slipped a pink "sorry we missed you" type sheet IN THE DOOR! He never rang the doorbell or anything.
That was about my 3rd dealing with Comcast. I can't remember a single dealing with comcast that had a satisfactory result.
It's too bad comcast won't release their account call logs. I know mine would have been very good for a kick or two.
My advice is to call and schedule a tech to come out as soon as the other tech leaves until it is fixed. I know it's a pain in the butt but that's the only thing I ever found to "work"
As far as money back goes, they always told me that the issue has to be resolved before they can issue a refund..... yeah... great..... So... if they ever do fix it, get a hold of the billing department. Oh, and the billing department closes after 11:00 PM even though the telephone system will still put you in the queue for it with a reassuring, "your call is important to us. We will answer your call in the order it was received."

Unfortunately, the only one that's doing it that I can come up with at the moment is internal to my company. However, I've seen it happen on Yahoo before... interestingly enough, it's not happening now... – zarniwoop, on May 26, 2008 00:29

I'm amused that while now we know you are running a "super machine", we still don't know what your "known problems" are. You see, Win-Vista-Person, when a problem is "known", other people "know" about it. I hope my explanation hasn't been too complicated for you. But you have two choices, either go away, very far away, and yes, stop using firefox, stop trolling for stupid. Or, acting like a non-retard, explain yourself in as many words as you can muster with your three brain cells exactly what your problems are so the people at Mozilla can give a proper reply.
