It appears that having wifi enabled is the issue. I tried the app when I was outside my home (i.e. only on 3G) and it worked like a charm. The problem happens when I'm at home using my wifi.

Tony, yes I can login to the website fine. The weird thing with the Android app is when I first go to login, it hangs. Then if I quit the app and re-start it, it seems to have me logged in already. But when I get in, I can't pull up my friend stream or placemarks, though it seems to show my last checkin. Also the Finding You part of the home screen also seems to hang and never spits out a guessed location.

I don't see any error message.

I downloaded the Brightkite App for Android on my T-Mobile G1. I tried to login with my existing credentials but the app just "hangs" during the login. I tried uninstalling and re-downloading the app but same thing still happens. I know I supplied the right user ID and password.

I'm registered on FireEagle but when I click the link under sharing in Brightkite, I get this error message on FireEagle:
