    Hi Joe,

    thanks for the tip. My entries look like this:

    5/12/2008 9:41:58 AM
    Sending file : C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Local Settings\Application Data\RescueTime.com\logs\pending\rt_20080512-091200.yml
    5/12/2008 9:42:07 AM
    ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <hash>
    <error>There was an unexpected error, some data may have been lost. undefined method `to_date' for nil:NilClass
    /var/www/rails/rescuetime/current/config/../app/models/user.rb:459:in `create_logs'
    /var/ww

    sounds like there's something missing in my setup - I'll try and reinstall the client.</error></hash>

    By default, RescueTime sends all logging data through port 443 (HTTPS/SSL) though if that causes a problem you can disable secure transfers in the RescueTime preferences.

    However, if you are seeing a recent "last update" time on your dashboard, it is likely not a communication issue with RescueTime.

    In your RescueTime preference window on your computer, you can check to see if you have successful transfers by looking for entries similar to:

    2008-05-13 09:58:56
    Sending file: /Users/jhruska/Library/RescueTime/Logs/Pending/rt_20080513-071216.yml

    2008-05-13 09:58:56
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <hash>
    <successes type="integer">48</successes>
    <total-records type="integer">48</total-records>
    </hash>

    Let me know if you don't see entries like this.

    Also, if you would like we can take a look at some of the incoming logs for your account, just send us an email to team@rescuetime.com from the email account you used to setup RescueTime and I'll take a look to see if there is anything strange.

    Thank you

    Data transferred but not displayed in dashboard?
    I installed Rescue Time and the tray icon shows logging is enabled. However, when going to the dashboard there is no data, although the site shows "last update from your compuer received xx minutes ago" (typically less than 30 minutes).
    Using the Verify button in the data collector's settings screen either results in a timeout or - after hanging for 30 seconds to a minute - a "success".

    does RescueTime use any non-standard ports? I'm behind a firewall but not behind a proxy.
