I agree with you, Daniel, that this shouldn't be necessary. Our problem is that we had to pick between two bad options.
We can't tell which theme you are using and if it supports aligning with CSS classes. So we had to choose between forcing our alignment and risk that our CSS clashes with those from themes or follow WP's way of doing things and fail on themes that don't comply.
We decided that later approach is better, because this CSS problem is for users easier to fix and with time more themes will support this. We hope.

Hi Brian and Jennifer,
Correct me if I am wrong, but you have a self-hosted WordPress on which Zemanta is now missing. Did you use a WordPress plugin or our browser extension?
If you were using plugin, then could you please check on Plugins page (accessible from navigation menu on the left) if our plugin is listed among active plugins? In case it isn't, check inactive ones too and turn it on if you find it there.
A comment on the question "Does Zemanta work for Squarespace if I'm using a Mac?" in Zemanta:
Scribefire should work everywhere Firefox does, so you can use it on Windows, Linux or Mac. On Windows you can also use Microsoft's LiveWriter together with our LiveWriter plugin.
Sorry, but there is still no in-browser support for Squarespace at this time. – Marko Samastur, on November 04, 2009 09:52

Scribefire uses our recommendation engine, but has its own user interface that was done by guys at Scribefire. I may be wrong, but I think their interface doesn't support inserting multiple images. I don't know if they support a nofollow option on articles, but in either case you will get a more informed answer from them.
I wish I could be of more help.

I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Would you be so kind to let me know on which platform this happens and when exactly does it fail? Does it misalign in editor or only after post is published?
If later and you are using a WordPress 2.6 or newer, then problem might be caused by your theme not supporting WordPress' way of aligning, which is by using alignleft and alignright classes together with corresponding CSS changes.
This problem can usually be resolved by adding following lines to theme's stylesheet:
.alignleft {float:left;}
.alignright {float:right;}

Thanks Iain. I am looking into why Chrome is behaving differently than Firefox, but in the meantime you can add following lines to your CSS:
.alignright { float:right; }
.alignleft { float:left; }
We recently changed behavior of our widget somewhat to support the way newer WordPress versions handle alignment.
WP added classes align<direction> around version 2.6 and it uses them to correctly align images inside of the editor. At the same time compatible themes can use those classes to correctly align images once they are published.
Adding above two lines should add support for this to your theme. We don't write alignment styles directly to HTML anymore to better support WP way of doing things and to make it simpler to make site-wide changes through CSS.
I will get back to you when I find out why Chrome's editor misbehaves.</direction>

You also have to turn balloons on in your Zemanta preferences that can be accessed through the link at the bottom right of the widget.
To access this setting you will also need to register and log in to Zemanta.
I believe Jure was unaware of a recent change when this feature was turned off by default because some people find it intrusive.
Please let us know if this solves your problem.

I regret to say this, but we have never supported picking size of inserted images on services that provide more than one. We do try to pick one that is a good compromise between size in pixels and size in bytes.
If that image is too big (in pixels), then you can resize it by clicking on it and dragging one of square points that show up. I hope this is good enough for now, although I can well imagine it isn't ideal.
