Looking to Talk to Colleagues at other schools who are getting started - or just got started - rolling out distance learning courses (hybrid or totally online). We're looking to talk to schools who use distance learning as we do - not schools that have full fledged distance learning programs. We use DL to help increase enrollment for certain courses, as a way to bring in non-traditional students. We are interested in opening a discussion concerning support models for faculty and students. We just finished a pilot this summer with 7 faculty teaching in various ways, some totally on line and some hybrid.

I'd like them easier accessed - have them by course and date. And have the default show all of them instead of just a few. And have an option to show by date as well as the 'top 100.' Now, when I compile the stats - there is a lot of clicking involved. An export function would be great as well.
And place the length of the lecture more prominent - rather than burying it in the details section.
The main thing we are tracking is viewing time my lecture and date, and recording time of lectures. Individual faculty are tracking viewing time by student and lecture.
It would also be nice - for faculty - to select a student and see the minutes of each lecture they have watched - rather than clicking through each lecture.
Wish list.

A comment on the question "Tracking Usage" in Panopto:
Marquis asked a question in Panopto on June 05, 2009 15:23:
Tracking UsageWhen I look at the duration of a recorded lecture it only documents the final seconds if the lecture ends during the first minute after one our. Here is an example: 14284de2-90d7-41aa-b9b9-6051d726ceeb
If you check the details for it The duration is listed as 4s. This also happened in one of the NR lectures. Rather than keep expanding to show all and to get the times to enter into another excel sheet is there a way to export the data? Thanks.

Interpreting StatsHow do the stats work? I see that often there is a 0 for the time spent viewing. Does the 0 appear once someone starts to view, and later it is updated - either when they finish or at a certain time frame of the day? Thanks, Marquis
Marquis asked a question in Panopto on May 28, 2009 18:56:
Work around for non-intel based mac usersHas anyone come up with an effective way to get Panopto Lectures to students who only have access to older macs that can not use Silverlight? For faculty who just use video / audio the podcast / vodcast feature will work fine. or even grabbing the WMV files and turning them into streaming files on our server. What I am more concerned about is the faculty who also use PPT and screen capture. We could re run the lecture in panopto on another machine and capture it with another screen capture program - but that is quite time consuming. Any other ideas? Thanks Marquis

Accesing Panopto lectures via satellite internet accessQuestion from a student: 5/22/2009 12:23:29 PM mae
Jon wants to know if he's going to have issues accessing Distance Learning course content using sattelite internet access. He said the connection is a little slow, and is concerned about being able to acess the content. Do network requirements exist?
Answer? Thanks, Marquis
