You guys should mention there is an Android mobile application as well.

What are we doing with spot names like 'dad's home' and 'home sweet home'

I'm currently trying to maintain all the spots in The Netherlands and correct names, add website addresses and even Twitter accounts.

In my way around the cities I'm spotting things like this. "Home Sweet Home" and "Dad's Home" for an example include very unclear names of the spot and are very confusing for other users.

Can we get an official response from the Gowalla team what to do with these spot names? Can we edit this in something like "Home of $username" and "Home of $username's Dad"?

Make the items more location aware

I was think about to get the items even more working with the game. It would be cool if you could hide a item as well. Especially at large spots it would be fun to see people walk around with there iPhone in there hand which points you to the right position to find the specific hidden item.

Warn / notify creator of a duplicate spot after it has been merged

Could you guys please setup a warning / notification E-Mail to the creators of duplicate spots and build-in a spot name check. A lot of times the name is (almost) the same and the system could notify a user while creating.

If a spot is merged the user should been warned / notified to not create duplicates. Maybe it should also contain the username of the STE member who merged it (seeing this issue). And a button to contact the Gowalla team to undo the merge if the STE was wrong. If the Gowalla member doesn't respond in 48 hours the spot will been merged for ever.

If you can hook me up with an API of Gowalla I'd love to get such things working on a third party platform. BUT, I still think it would be even more awesome if it's integrated inside Gowalla.
