Expanding search to genre may be a good idea.

But, I think tags could be a new feature, I'm thinking of tags just as everywhere else, think to delicious.com for web links, LibraryThing.com for books... That's real tagging... !

Example: add tag "cooking" to books and DVDs related to the "cooking" topic.
