A comment on the question "Can Songbird handle multi-channel audio?" in Songbird:
In principle, downmixing 5.1 to quad is straightforward. Mix the centre-front input equally into the left-front and right-front quad channels (this is called a phantom centre). If you have no subwoofer then mix the .1 LFE input equally into all four quad channels. However, I don't know of a songbird plugin that does this. – Martin, on September 10, 2009 16:31
