A comment on the problem "Remain in plain list view" in twitterfeed:
Great, thanks. – Maskil, on November 05, 2009 18:01
Maskil reported a problem in twitterfeed on November 05, 2009 11:15:
Remain in plain list viewWhen using the “switch to plain list view” mode, once you have completed a create/edit/delete feed, you are taken back to the (complex) Feed Dashboard view. twitterfeed.com should remain in the mode you have selected until you manually select another option, or at the end of the session.
A comment on the idea "Survey doesn’t allow copy/paste." in HootSuite:
Duh! How do you think I actually discovered that the Paste function is not working? Your response tells me that you didn’t even bother to check at the most basic level before replying. If you had, you would have seen that the Right-Click Context Menu has Paste disabled.
Did anyone actually bother to test the survey before putting it live?
If anyone is interested, here are my responses to the first two questions in the survey:
- Columns or tabs for the different Twitter Streams (I must admit, I preferred the old Tabs arrangement on the previous version of Hootsuite).
- The ability to schedule Tweets for a later date/time. Many otherwise fully-functional clients lack this basic feature.
- Why can’t we schedule DM’s? Surely it would be simpler to allow the Tweet Later facility for all types of Tweets, rather than excluding DM’s?
- More functionality on the pop-up boxes that appear when you select another Twitter user or search for Tweets. You can view the details, but not action them, e.g. Retweet something. – Maskil, on September 23, 2009 07:34

Survey doesn’t allow copy/paste.I tried to complete your survey, but it wouldn’t allow me to paste my comments from a Word doc. Please allow me to complete the survey without having to retype my comments.-

Maskil gave praise in uberVU on September 03, 2009 10:37:
Ubervu – not what I expectedOK, so it’s not praise, but I didn’t see a suitable category. When I initially heard about Ubervu (a very long time ago; so much for my Beta invitation), I hoped it would do two things for me:
- Keep track of all conversation on the Net concerning my defined digital assets (blog, etc.)
- Keep track of all the comments, remarks, suggestions, etc., I leave elsewhere on the Net (i.e. not on my defined digital assets).
As far as I can see, it does neither, so I’m more than a little disappointed, especially considering the long wait.
Quite frankly, I don’t have a use for the product right now.
Best of luck.
A comment on the problem "Twitterfeed duplicates for @Maskil" in twitterfeed:
Thanks. I don’t suppose there’s a way to merge the two profiles, or to convert the OpenID profile to an e-mail address/password profile is there? – Maskil, on August 19, 2009 15:57

A comment on the question "Ping Later?" in Ping.fm:
I’ve put together this quick summary of why Ping.fm users might want to use some sort of “ping later” feature:
- If you don’t want to bombard your followers/readers/subscribers with too many updates over too short a period of time. Space the updates out over hours or days.
- If your audience is in a different time zone to you, or spread out over a number of time zones.
- If your target service is down (e.g. a DDoS attack?), a service like Ping.fm could store and forward once the target service is back up again.
- If you are planning to be absent from your desk/computer (for a weekend or a week’s holiday), but your readers expect updates during that period nonetheless.
I had a careful look at both HelloTxt (http://hellotxt.com/), and the absence of a “ping later” feature was the sole reason why I selected HelloTxt over Ping.fm.
Thanks for taking the trouble to point out the 3rd-party products that would allow one to ping later, but I’m sure most users would prefer to have this facility as part of the core product, rather than having to use another external product. – Maskil, on August 19, 2009 15:38
Maskil reported a problem in twitterfeed on August 18, 2009 13:20:
Twitterfeed duplicates for @MaskilAfter your “upgrade” in mid-2009, I could only see or manage 4 of the 12 feeds that I’d set up on twitterfeed.
I ended up deleting all existing feeds (or so I thought), and set them up again using an e-mail address/password combination rather than OpenID.
I find I still have duplicates, however. See the following from this morning:
Twitter / Russell Cohen: New blog post: New Vision ...

Please could you assist me in identifying where the duplicates are coming from?

Maskil asked a question in JS-Kit on August 11, 2009 10:12:
Migrating from Intense Debate on WordPress.orgI’m currently using Intense Debate on my WordPress.Org blog (http://blog.maskil.info). Although I was using JS-Kit comments on my legacy Blogger blogs, I went with ID because it and WordPress are now under one roof.
Do I need to do anything special to uninstall Intense Debate and install Echo? Do I just deactivate the ID plugin and install the Echo equivalent (I assume there is a WordPress plugin)?

Unfollow user, still see updatesIf I Unfollow someone, then refresh the column/feed shouldn’t that user’s updates be removed from the column?-

Maskil reported a problem in MyBlogLog on July 18, 2009 11:46:
Remove irritating warning message from Edit ServicesWhile attempting to add all my services to this page, every time I attempt to change the focus away from the Tab (Firefox), or even just tab to the next field, MyBlogLog generates the following error/warning message:
Whoa there! Are you sure?
This will delete all your updates from this service from New with Me.
I am forced to click twice on the message before it goes away.
What is the aim of this really pointless, irritating and irrelevant error message? I’m not closing the tab, just going elsewhere to collect the information required!
Please could you get rid of it?

Maskil shared an idea in Xobni on July 15, 2009 10:51:
Perform bulk operations using XobniIs it possible to perform bulk “file operations”, e.g. move all e-mails from a search result (or from a particular sender, etc.) to a specific folder, delete, send as an attachment, etc.? If not, it this something that Xobni might consider for future releases?
It’s great being able to isolate “conversations, etc. like this”, but it just feels as if the next logical step is missing.
