Great idea.

The new xbox 360 interface would be a great basis for boxee.

The xbox interface includes messaging, but IM would be amazing.

Boxee is great for media right now, but I would also like to see IM, and other features to eliminate using anything else.

IM
Web Browsing
Media Ripping (DVD)
Email (webmail)

Just to name a few other features that would be great addition to boxee

Maybe add a view more like cover flow?

Not to rip off iTunes, but on my tiny TV its hard to see what songs are in the list or playing. I am looking to get a bigger tv. but the cover flowish view would be great!.

Also if you could have the iphone app include the same view. The gesture mode is great, but it would be nice to see wats playing if say.. im in another room and want to change the song.

Add "Songs" to Local media

Add "songs" to the local media.

I have a pile of songs on an external drive, but in boxee its rather hard to navigate to the external drive and play songs on the drive.

"Artist" and "Albums" is already include but "Songs" would be nice.

Essentially I would like to be able to open my local media and play all the songs as if the drive was a huge play list.

Ad hoc does work. The iphone just sees it as another wifi connection.

Make sure your firewall isnt blocking the 8800 port (add an exeption for the port)

Remote APP- NON-Wifi PLEASE!

Make the remote app bluetooth, or ANYTHING other than wifi.

The remote works great but its a huge hassle using wifi.

1. I don't always have internet connection so I have to launch boxee offline, then connect my computer to my wireless network and then connect the remote.

2. The remote has to re-connect anytime you leave the app. This is especially annoying when you put your phone to sleep.

3. Wifi is more difficult to configure. I took me 2 days to figure out (on my own) that I had to add an exception to my computers firewall to allow the remote to connect.

Im sure there is many more advantages to using another connection method, but these are the few that I have on the top of my head.

I love Boxee, and hope it continues to progress.

Same issue, I read somewhere that it has something to do with a change made in the OS.

Im not sure how Boxee (used to) overides the OS IR controls, but im sure this should be an easy fix.

Any word from boxee development on an update yet?

I have been having the same issue, until last night.

I had my iPhone connected to the same network as my computer, and the app found the computer but kept saying "Error Connecting to Host"

I opened up port 8800 on my computers firewall, and viola.

Google how to open ports on your firewall if you are having the same problem.
