Hi all,
Just a note that Favorites 1.0.5 will be out sometime in the next few days, and once that happens I'll submit Favorites 1.0.6 to Apple. Version 1.0.6 will show the names of your favorites whilst their pictures are still loading, even if you've disabled showing names normally.
This should make it much easier to see which favorite is for which contact, even if their images haven't loaded yet and you've chosen not to display their names.

Hi all,
Just a note that Favorites 1.0.5 (submitted to Apple this week, and hopefully available in iTunes sometime this coming week: 1st-5th December) will allow you to disable the "extra numbers/email-addresses" feature if prefer the previous appearance of the Overlay. The feature will still be enabled by default.

Hi there,
Favorites deliberately doesn't edit your contacts in any way; it simply uses data from them (including their images). You can easily add photos to your contacts using the Contacts application on your iPhone, and those photos will then show up in Favorites.
Do this:
1. Launch the Contacts application.
2. Find the contact you want to add a photo for.
3. Tap the Edit button at the top-right.
4. Tap "Add Photo", or if the contact already had a photo that you want to change, tap that photo.
You can then add a new photo for the contact, either from your saved photos or by using the iPhone's camera.
When you next launch Favorites, any favorites for that contact will use the new photo automatically.

Hi there,
This is actually a limitation imposed by Apple, which is frustrating for me too. For security reasons (I'm not sure what those reasons actually are, but that's the official explanation), only Apple's own applications like the Phone app or Contacts can dial numbers which contain certain special codes (like the hash/square/'pound' key or the star/asterisk key).
So while Favorites recognises those numbers and attempts to dial them as normal, the actual iPhone OS refuses to actually initiate the call. So it's currently out of my hands, which is annoying (I also have a voice mailbox number I'd like to add to Favorites).
Rest assured that I've already submitted a request to Apple to allow third-party applications to dial such numbers, and if/when Apple do allow it, Favorites will then automatically be able to dial those numbers without needing any further update to do so.
If I hear anything further on this from Apple, I'll also post a further reply here on this topic. :)

Coming Soon: Accessing additional numbers and email addresses for each favoriteHi all,
Just a note that I'm currently working on a new feature where, when viewing the Overlay for a favorite, you'll be able to quickly pick any of that contact's phone-numbers or email addresses to use for a call, text or email.
This won't affect the default phone/text/email settings for the favorite, but will let you quickly access any of their other numbers or addresses without having to change the favorite's settings or make an extra favorite.
I plan to make this feature available in Favorites 1.0.4, which will hopefully be available in iTunes sometime during the week of Monday 17th - Friday 21st November.

Hi again all,
Just a note that I've made some progress on speeding up the launch process. What I've done is two things: firstly, the main screen's user interface is now created entirely in code (which helps slightly), and also I now load the pictures for your contacts in the background, once the app has launched (which helps more).
The effect of this is that Favorites should launch faster and your favorites should be available to you sooner - though they will initially not have their pictures inside, and the pictures will fill-in automatically a moment later. You can still interact with the favorites as soon as you see them, so you can trigger a favorite (or the Overlay) even before all the pictures have been loaded. This should let you use Favorites without having to wait so long at launch.
I'm continuing to explore further ways to boost performance, but I wanted to get this fix out to you so I've submitted version 1.0.3 to Apple today (Saturday 8th November). Hopefully it'll be available around the middle of next week (perhaps Wednesday 12th).
