Our API supports supports sorting by multiple columns, so in theory an extension could add this feature. Unfortunately performance starts to suffer once you sort by multiple columns, and this is why we haven't exposed it in the UI.

How important is it to be able to customize your secondary sort? Would you be happy if the app had a built-in secondary sort for each column, as long as that sort was fairly logical? When we pre-compute the secondary sort information performance is not a problem (which is what we do for Artist -> Album, Disc, Track and Album -> Disc, Track).

If this acceptable, please file some enhancement bugs with the sort logic you'd like to see.

When you sort by artist or album, it should automatically also sort by disc number and track number.

If this is not happening then it is definitely a bug.

You should be able to get the info you need with the sbIMetadataHandler interface, but it isn't a great API, and your best bet is to use sbIFileMetadataService.read(mediaItem), which will use the an sbIMetadataHandler to set up properties on the item.

Koshi, it is true that we support writing ratings, but it was decided that we should disable that functionality by default. I think the logic was that most people don't expect/want their files to be modified.

If you want though you can enable rating writes by going to "about:config" in the browser and changing "songbird.metadata.ratings.enableWriting" to true
