BTW, if people are having this problem, can you look in Tools/Error Console (right after you've tried a download that doesn't start) and post here if there is an error displayed at the end of the console. Thanks!

That's just silly. We have a whole range of products and we've been focusing on a number of other priorities. FireDownload works great for most users and sites. It is true that there are issues using it with some sites, and for the time being we suggest that users simply unclick the "Accelerate with FireDownload" box in those cases. One thing we are planning to do in the short term is include a list of sites in the product so it knows just to use normal Firefox downloading for cases where FireDownload is not yet supported.

We don't support PowerPC and don't have plans to do so. The number of PowerPC users is decreasing and the extra support effort simply isn't justifiable for us.

We are keen to improve FireDownload so that it works with more websites, and we will be releasing versions in the coming months to address this.

Do you have any other extensions installed? Any chance you can try disabling all other extensions, if so, and see if the problem persists?

I'm still not able to reproduce this. Are people still having problems with FireDownload 1.1.7? If so, please let me know if you are willing to help and I'll give some instructions for helping to track the problem down.

This only seems to happen to some people in some circumstances. We haven't managed to find the cause but we'll see what we can do to narrow down the problem.

I tested this on OS X 10.5.7 and Firefox 3.5.1 and I didn't notice any problem. What version of FireDownload are you running? What exactly do you mean when you say that it disables the Download Manager window?

It could be a referrer problem if it only occurs on specific sites. If it's happening everywhere, it could be a proxy issue. Are any of the people who reported this using a network proxy?

I tested with Apple website using Firefox 3.0.5 on OS X and it worked. Do you guys have some other extensions installed? Maybe there is a conflict somewhere.
