I have a similar problem. The spell checking setting stays checked for me, but it doesn't actually do anything until I nudge it with Cmd-;. That is, if I've spelled something wrong, the red squiggles don't actually appear until I force a spell check.

I agree that the icons could use some work. The aesthetic is just off for me. My initial thought about the dock icon was, "What the heck is this boxy purple thing?" The menu bar icon is equally vague and calls too much attention to itself when lit up. Something more subtle (like Apple's Bluetooth icon) would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what exactly needs to change for the dock icon, but it doesn't feel very Mac-like to me. When I Cmd-Tab, I see a bunch of photorealistic icons... and then this purple gradient that feels too small or too disproportionate (the pointer arrow is rather large).

Anyway, don't want to beat a dead horse here, so keep up the good work and think about investing in a better set of icons in the vein of other great Mac apps (Cha-Ching, Transmit, AppShelf's new one, LittleSnapper, Postbox, Transmission, VirtualBox, Espresso, etc.).

In what way is the plugin not compatible with 2.7? I have 2.7 installed, but I'm just using the sidebar widget to post status updates. I'll check it out and do some testing tomorrow, and fix anything that needs fixing.

A couple things:

1. Go to your Ping.fm Custom URL settings at https://ping.fm/custom/ and make sure the boxes are checked next to "use for:".

2. Check your WP database and make sure the 'wp_pingfm' table exists. I've seen problems where this table doesn't get created when the user doesn't have CREATE privs or when an old version of MySQL is used.

3. If all else fails, I can give you a PHP script to test the plugin in an isolated way without even bringing in Ping.fm. It uses cURL to do a simple HTTP POST to your plugin.

So, I unchecked all the settings on that page, saved it, and then re-checked the ones I wanted and saved it, and link shortening seems to be working again. Go figure.

Link shortening appears to be broken. With the option to "Shorten links in posts" checked, links that would normally be shortened aren't getting shortened today for whatever reason. For example, this URL is a great candidate, but it just gets left alone: http://www.fuelly.com/driver/mjacob/g...

Is anyone else having this problem, or is it just me? It doesn't matter whether I post from IM or the web---the problem stays the same.
