picture stuck outside environment boundsThis is crazy - I'm not sure how it got out there, but I've been dumping a bunch of pictures onto the bumptop, and doing the 'global grow/shrink' function, and this one (pinned to the wall) got kicked out into the black abyss outside the walls:
Using the photo browsing feature, I can 'fly out' to it, where it jiggles around and slowly rotates, but i can never get it back 'inside the box'.

inadvertant global grow / shrink is annoyingThis wouldn't be a problem if there was a global undo feature, but until then, holding control and rolling the mouse wheel while clicked onto the bumptop and no other icon scales all icons simultaneously - something I do about 95% by accident, and 5% on purpose. Adding an additional button might be a good way to alleviate this -
select icon(s) + control + mouse wheel = targeted resize
shift + control + mouse wheel = global resize

overlapped icons grabbable through icons on topSo I've got a stack of a dozen or so mid-sized photos sitting on the desktop, in a pile. If I pick one, grow it to cover the others, then set it down, it remains sitting on top, just like you'd expect.
But when I click in the middle of that one picture that's sitting above the others, covering them up, I grab through it to one below - this shouldn't happen. Oddly enough, it isn't consistent - some pictures are 'easier' to grab through then others.
A comment on the question "infinite desktop - misleading term." in BumpTop:
well yeah, that much is obvious - but did they have to call it something misleading? all I'm saying is - you can't call something 'infinite' and then give it big black definite edges. – matt lohkamp, on April 09, 2009 07:39

bug rendering grown images in presence of other huge pictures
After dropping a picture of splattered colours onto the bumptop, then 'grow'ing it up to the size shown, I dropped in another .jpg - this one is pretty big: 260x2485. As you can see, it caused pretty profound graphical glitching, which looks like a shading error - like it's trying to render a shadow but it's messing up. Dragging other images across the glitched out surface causes these weird blocky areas to redistrubte themselves, flickering across the surface of the image.
PS - after deleting the afore-mentioned big tall .jpg, the glitched out photo stays that way - in fact, now the entire surface looks like it's covered with 90% opaque black, and it still flickers when other icons are dragged across the surface.

matt lohkamp replied on April 09, 2009 07:13 to the problem "Blurry Wall Photo Res." in BumpTop:
I had something like this happen too - I had a nice big gigantic (2600x1200 or something) photo sitting on my bumptop that I'd grown to fill about 2/3 of the screen - but after restarting, it was a big blurry mess of super lo-res badness. New pictures look okay - but I can't convince the old one to res up its thumbnail (the zoom in view looks fine)-

'throwing' icons into wall-mounted items shouldn't be allowedThe reason I pinned my recycling bin and twitter icon to the wall is that I didn't want to accidently toss stuff into them while playing around with the physics - to no avail.
Since the icons are in a 3D space, it's incongruous to allow items that are on the floor plane to somehow be 'thrown' into items that are halfway up the wall - the thrown item should bounce harmlessly off the wall.
A comment on the problem "can't make a pile out of two icons with gesture" in BumpTop:
sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you didn't - I just wanted to make sure it was clear that I was suggesting this as a sort of ideal situation, not complaining that I couldn't figure out how to do it. :] – matt lohkamp, on April 09, 2009 01:29
