Michael asked a question in PTC University on November 07, 2009 17:11:

    Michael
We really should move the "Training locations near"
We really should move the "Training locations near" links to be just below the map. Its down the bottom of the page after all the locations and people wont find it. I feel its important to be able to find these.

    Here is my proposal.

    Worlwide link
If I click the more training location links and select Worldwide, I expect the map to update and show a worldwide zoomed view.

    Usability problem on clicking Register
I've done some usability testing on users and have found that many are confused by the register button on the main page. When they click this, they expect to be taken directly to a signup form. However in our design, we show the details page with a register panel open.

Only problem is that the panel is not noticeable and if on the right and most likely below the scroll area.

I know we changed our original design to add a register button, however I think we need to rethink where the register button takes you.

One idea is to redesign the details page so the form is on the left. Or change the name of the Register button to Details.

"Registration closes in x days" should not wrap.
On details page in locations area, we print out that "Registration closes in x days". This text is wrapping and should not as there is plenty of space.

Training locations near is sorted wrong
This list of training locations near list is sorted wrong. It needs to be sorted on how far they are away from the base location. If I am in Needham, I expect MA to appear first. Then NH, and PA.

Currently the list is sorted all wrong.

    Mapp bubble popups are inconsistent
The bubble popups that appear when you click the map pins, is inconsistent when compared between the home page and the details page.

On the details page, you show the address location, but on the details page you only display the city and state.

The pin popup should be consisted no matter what page your on.

Details page needs request a class if no class is avail
If you land on details page with a course that has no classes available, you should still get an option to request it. You already get this on the first page, but the details page needs it too.

A comment on the idea "Zoom Zoom" in Balsamiq:

    Michael
    I agree with Jenni,
This is a mockup tool - not photoshop. Sure zoom would be cool, but Im afraid of adding too many features to bloat the product to the point that it gets in the way of what it is supposed to do very well - which is mockups. – Michael, on October 29, 2009 17:03

Problem with clicking another product from the class detals page.
On the details page, if I click another product at the top from the product selector, I would expect to go back to the main page with that product selected and persisted.

What happens now is that the main page loads, but ignores my selection.

Michael replied on October 26, 2009 18:33 to the idea "Cursor shouldn't stay in the Quick add field after adding a control" in Balsamiq:

    Michael
This keeps coming up, and I wonder if I can propose an idea that makes sense for both sides?

Can we use a timer to detect if the user has an intention to give another quick-add vs. moving or using the control that was just inserted? If not a timer, how about a key? Since you cannot use CTRL keys in the quick add bar, why not trap this behavior and determine the users intention is to move the control.

In the latest release, If I have a modal screen in the background. You are not able to interact or click around on the linking controls.
