    I see.

WHOOPS: super edit. Only now do I realize you can specify how many results to download at a time. Sorry!

Anyway, I sure hope there’s some way to cache Flickr images. Don’t browsers cache anything as you click through their pages?

I would say that 15 minutes would be a reasonably-aggressive expiration time for cache. Much more so if you encrypted the cache somehow. I’m sure it’s possible to convert images to a proprietary or encrypted format on the fly.

It doesn’t need to be a l337-h4xx0r-proof encryption algothm, but just something that would make it inconvenient enough to discourage users from keeping the cached images to themselves!

By the way, I never understood those who upload large-format pictures only to prevent them from being downloaded. Ever heard about screenshots, people? Paparazzi is very good at getting those pics just fine...

    Cached vs. re-downloaded images
It looks to me as though Viewfinder doesn’t use a cached version for already-downloaded images.

When I press “Load More,” all images disappear and then re-appear in random order. Judging by the time it takes to have them all back, it looks like Viewfinder re-downloads older images, too.

Please, make it so the application uses cached versions, if available, when pressing Load More. You’ll save us a lot of time.

On my system, such sheet appears in front of a Safari window.

When I click to agree to the installation, an empty userscript “shell” appears in the SSB’s userscript manager, with the script’s name; the description reads: “What does this do?”

I’m sure I’m doing it wrong, but the thing sure ain’t so easy.

More useful location fields in Twitter profile
    Hi,

As it is, Tweetie updates one’s location field in the following format:

    iPhone: 44.798950,10.331327

Those coordinates are useless for people browsing Twitter.com (no direct map link, yet!), and few Twitter clients offer a map link, anyway. I’m not sure what the coordinates are there for, but maybe it’s that string that’s being used for geolocation of tweets, as in the “Nearby” filters (Twitter might also store that info in invisible fields...)

My idea is: couldn’t Tweetie substitute the “iPhone: ” bit in the location field with more meaningful information?

For example, it might run a “reverse geocode” query on GeoNames.org (CC BY license) and obtain the actual toponym for those coordinates, i.e.:

    Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy — 44.798950,10.331327

That way, users would have meaningful info about one’s location and coordinates would still be there. As far as I know, Twitter removed the 30-char limitation for the location field, so this could be feasible now.

I’m tagging this for the Mac client, as well, since geolocation should be supported in Snow Leopard!

I totally agree. The X button should close the window, not the app. What else are notifications there for?
