Glad I could help. They seem very active on it, think we have had 3 releases in less than a week recently.
I also know that local storage is on their "to do" list too, which will be great. – Mike, on December 07, 2009 20:11

HeeHee, well I for one pestered them for a while :) They too were afraid of releasing something that was not up to their usual high quality, using beta testers (many of whom report back problems) has been a good move for them. When they do release to market they will have an excellent app. – Mike, on December 07, 2009 20:03

It would be worthwhile looking at the model Evernote use for their Android application. They are making it available on their website for download and testing before releasing it to the android market. This is also the way that Brightkite introduced their android application.
It allows 'beta testers' to help spot some of the bugs before the application is rolled out en-mass.

Brightkite integration?Hi, what chance of adding sharing to Brightkite from Qik? Also having this

I must admit to having purchased an iPhone a few days before Christmas. However I intend to take it back to the store tomorrow for a refund. Whilst it is a *very* nice piece of hardware with a sexy interface and an excellent Brightkite application (as you'd expect) it just does not do the basic things you would expect from a smartphone.
The real killer for me was the lack of being able to dial a phone number from an entry in my calendar. This is something I do almost daily for my business on my Blackberry.
I was totally shocked when I found the iPhone could not do this.
I wrote about it on my blog, http://www.g6phf.co.uk/

Actually if you use the curl interface to the API, sending the lat/long gets you back a "place id" , you then need to submit this again to get a human readable place. But as you say not rocket science for a java programmer :) – Mike, on December 30, 2008 19:08

@eurotario Have you checked this thread out? http://getsatisfaction.com/brightkite... seems to be more going on there recently.

iPhone is a sexy, eye-candy interface and of course has the cool Apple brand, it's hard for it to fail really.
However lack of obvious things like cut'n'paste, MMS, decent battery life certainly squash my ideas of ever changing from my Blackberry.
I've thought about it in the past but then come back to earth when I think about the things I *really* need my smartphone to do on a daily basis, iPhone does not do this......but of course it has a really nice brightkite application available for it :) – Mike, on December 06, 2008 11:24

I dont think the TellMe app has anything to do with brightkite but it does look a very interesting and extremely nice looking application on the Blackberry. How are you liking it? – Mike, on December 05, 2008 22:25

Well I've got a call lined up on Monday with a development company. It will be interesting to see what they say. @Meredith you were lucky enough as an iPhone user to have the brightkite team code up a nice app for you, Blackberry users don't have that.
That said would you pay $10 for the iPhone BK app having used it?? – Mike, on December 05, 2008 22:23
