I like this idea. I'm concerned about sending the full website/application titles to RescueMe and I want to be able to change the locally. For example I want to delete usernames from the page title just leaving the information that I've been to facebook or twitter. And I want to send that I used OpenOffice, but I don't want every document title to be sent. (I also want to send domain names instead of full URLs)

One longer-term remedy avoids e-mail addresses and spam altogether. Instead, use OpenID. So many services (such as Yahoo, Flickr, AOL, Livejournal, SixApart, Clickpass, and much more, including opensource frameworks too) now provide OpenID, most people already have a provider.

I like Mike's suggestion to feed Faves into FriendFeed, too. I just wish FriendFeed would add a custom feed for Faves. This enables private sharing, comment postback, and also overloads their generic blog feed icon, which is less confusing for readers. I also wish Faves could add a feed key for friends-only sharing into Facebook, Plaxo Pulse, Jaiku, 30 Boxes, and other privacy-capable lifestreams.
Better yet, since Faves chooses to focus and do one thing well (rather than do everything like Facebook or Multiply), please adopt OAuth to enable private sharing and comment postback with larger social networks.
Even more edgy, follow that philosophy and rather than handle comments, let Disqus handle and lifestream them. Then instead focus on adding tag intersection, unions, and other improvements.

I've created my own proxy server to accomplish this. If you want to try it out, please send me and email at andrew at lunde dot com. I'd be happy to see if it works for you as well. – Andrew Lunde, on May 22, 2008 21:10

I uninstalled and reinstalled, as I said I would above. No problems there.
RT just informed me that there was an update - presumably that's the one mentioned by Joe - so I installed it, and there were no problems.
I think there should be more care taken in the future when making such sensitive changes.

I'm really sorry to hear about the death in your family, Robert. We all have bad days, and it's easy to misinterpret email/forum posts. I'm glad Faves is working for you again.
Be sure your latest email address is the one registered with Faves.com - that way, you'll be able to get a password reset message sent to that account if you have password problems in the future.
BTW - I find that GMail has the BEST spam filtering of all the mail services I've tried. Some does leak through, though. If you ever go back, there is a a Filter tab in Settings that let you filter particular mails that are making it through their spam filter. I've had to do this in one case and filter messages that contain the text "begin 666" to send them to my Spam folder.

You are correct and I was out of line. I just had a death in the family and I was taking it out on everyone around me. I wish to apologize and hope you will forgive me. I'm guessing that you fixed the problem because I was able to log-on and change my email address. My gmail address was being heavily spamed so I opened a new account with them and the spam followed, so I deleted the account completely and no longer have an account with Google. Thank you for your help. – Robert1, on May 19, 2008 13:59

This is exactly what I do as well. I will spend most of my day RDP-ing to my work laptop. It would be quite handy to be able to use RescueTime in this way. Right now it just tells me I've used MS Terminal Services a lot! – JD, on May 18, 2008 12:45

There are two of us watching GetSatisfaction, sorry we didn't respond earlier (though I find it offensive for you to sling invectives at us for not responding within 24 hours).
The only way we can tell if you are the true owner of an account is to send mail to the email address you have registered with us. How did you loose your gmail account?
You can send mail to feedback@faves.com, or use out feedback form if you need a password reset (but we will have the verify that you are the true owner of the account).

During this last update we were in sort of a "transition" period between moving off of the old updater (AutoUpdate+) and getting the new custom updater installed. My hope is that updates from now on are a lot more Vista friendly.
I'd love to get some assistance in testing Vista updates from a couple of people who have had problems in the past.
I've got an update ready for testing now, so if you are interested in giving me feedback on how it works for Vista, send me an email to team@rescuetime.com
Thank you!

Yes - I'd really like this feature - additionally I often access one computer from the other over extended periods of time, using some remote desking software.
Would it be possible to add a feature to ignore certain apps? That way when i am access machine B from machine A i don't get two time periods being recorded for different machines.
