Hi Martin,
I am pretty sure my problem was not the 50 cap. As my November 2009 folder had 15, and was showing 2. Good to know it is 50, we will not be doing Shelves by semester then.
What do you mean by "refresh." The only way I was able to work around this problem was to delete all the bookmarks out of the folder and copy them in again from All Documents.
Thanks,
Ken

Okay, riddle me this. I have *15* items in a folder. It is showing 2 of them.
http://bgnews.com/pdf/november-2009/
I really need an answer on this here people. I expect a little more when we are forking over $19 a month. We get a heck of a lot of traffic and would get more if Issuu would work as advertised. I love this product, but I do not understand these seemingly bizarre limitations. Why on Earth is it only showing 2 of 15 now?
What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this? I need to fix this ASAP, this is LIVE on my site right now.
Thanks!
Ken

Embedded Shelf Limit to 20, 50?Hi,
We are paying for Issuu Pro, and really like the new embedded shelf feature, but it seems to have some serious problems.
One of my Shelves I made has 73 documents in it, it is the Spring 2007 archive of our newspaper. If I embed that shelf, it shows me 20 of them. Why?
One of my Shelves I made has 63 documents in it, it is the Fall 2009 archive of our newspaper. If I embed that shelf, it shows me 50 of them. Why?
Is there a limit to the amount of documents an embedded shelf has? If so, why this discrepancy?
Seeing as I have already pulled the trigger and have started using the embedded shelves on the site, this is quite frustrating to figure out after I put all the pages together. I was doing a spot check and noticed the missing documents.
So, what are the limitations to the embedded shelves? Why do those limitations exist? and why would Shelf X show 20 and Shelf Y show 50 when both have more than 60 documents in each?
Thanks,
Ken

Sort Embedded Shelf By TitleHi,
I would like to see a flag that you can set when embedding a shelf to allow you to sort by the Title of the document, and not the order it was placed in the shelf. Would that be possible to add?

Image Size & Resolution for Housing GuideIt is important that your images not be more than 72 DPI (standard for web graphics) and not be much larger than 800x600 px.
If you images are a higher resolution, it will take longer for the potential renters to see your photos; if the images are much bigger than 800x600 px. the user will not be able to see the navigation buttons for Next, Previous, and most importantly, Close.
You can do one of two things to make sure your images are at a good size and resolution:
1) Change the settings of your digital camera
2) Modify the size and resolution with an application such as Photoshop or my favorite free PC image editing app InfranView. You can also use the bundled Preview app in Mac OS X.

We can add fields that have labels, such as Sample Lease and Parental Agreement. "Other" is just too vague, and I would much rather know what "Other" is. As it would be an optional field, if it is left blank, it would not even show up on the Detail page.
I think the best way to handle this is to add a new section below the map called "Additional Resources" or something, then list the application (again), sample lease, and par

Property Management AddressFrom University Village:
They suggested adding address of property management office. This seems like a great idea, though no one has ever requested this before. I believe if I attach this to the User Profile, then this field would not have to be added every single time they add a listing to the Housing Guide. This will take some looking into.
The actual address of the management office would be mapped out in our Business Directory, which has not launched yet.
If someone else has suggestions to the Housing Guide, please post them (as a separate idea, not adding to this one), as our goal is to offer a product that is tailored to the needs of Bowling Green.

Added Forms to DownloadFrom Renee Trout:
Add fields to be able to not only add the rental agreement (which is in the system right now) but also add a sample lease, parental agreement, and other form. It would be harder to understand "Other" and be able to label that on the Detail page, but adding Sample Lease and Parental Agreement would be easily added. Just need to find a place for it in the Detail page.

Ken Edwards asked a question in BG Views on October 26, 2009 21:17:
How should I title my Housing Guide listing? The title of your Housing Guide listing is important, and is used in many places in the BG Views Network - not just on the Housing Guide. It is also listed on the Housing Community Blog and Off-Campus 411 blog.
It is highly recommended that your title is not long. The address of the unit, or name of the unit, is the bare minimum your title should be. Secondary should be how many bedrooms it has.
Please refrain from using extra spaces, dashes, number (#) signs and the like, and web addresses. A short concise title is best as this title is displayed on many different web pages, such as the right sidebar of the Community Blog and 411 Blog, and Network Home Page.
Example: 1234 Main St. 2 Bedroom
On the actual listing page, the Page Title (at the very top of the page) becomes:
1234 Main St. (Apartment, Bowling Green OH) - BG Views Housing Guide
That is, of course, if when you made your listing, the address is in Bowling Green, OH. The Page Title is dynamically written based on what you chose in the listing. If you add a listing for a House, the Page Title will say House, for example.
Search Engines such as Google and Yahoo no longer rely on meta data such as Keywords and Descriptions like they used to. The Page Title is the most important aspect of any web page, which is why BG Views has taken great care to make search engine friendly Page Titles.
Google also displays web pages higher in SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) when more sites link to each other. In other words, the more link love something has, the better results it will get in search engines. So please link to our Housing Guide, and your listings!

How do I Sign In to the BG Views Network? If you need to login to the Administrative area of BG Views Network, chances are you are either adding/editing a listing in the Housing Guide, adding photos to a Photo Blog, or making changes to a Community Blog.
It is highly recommended that you use Firefox, as everything works better in Firefox, especially everything in the BG Views Network Admin.
1.) Sign in to http://admin.bgnews.com/ with your BG Views Network account. Easy password recovery is available if you need it.
2.) If it is the very first time you sign in, you may be taken to the System Overview section. As seen in the image below, click on the green/yellow arrow to reveal a drop down menu, and select the site you wish to add something to, such as the BG Views Housing Guide. NOTE: Your computer will remember the last site you were editing, so you do not need to do this every time.

3.) You are now logged in and ready to add or edit an Entry or Listing. You are at the Dashboard for the site.
