Yup, they are the same LCD quality, Most likely you are looking at a Samsung SyncMaster LCD (since they are the main LCD makers for Apple). – Alex, on August 19, 2008 17:15

don't want to go off on a tangent - i will say, for the record, I did notice the menu bar being as persistent as it is did cause burn in on a BenQ LCD monitor I previously owned from a 1st gen mac mini. I was using screen & energy savers - it really was the result of a hell of a lot of uptime in front of the screen crankin away!
i hear the LCDs on the iMac are of the same quality as their laptop LCDs - anyone verify this? if so, I concur, I would not expect burnin on the iMac either.

It's quite unlikely that your iMac will get burn-in, but there are a few things you can do to help.
Go to System Preferences. Click Energy Saver.
Make sure a time is set to put the display to sleep.
That's it! This will ensure that the screen isn't on for long periods of time! If you like, an alternative is to set a screen-saver (literally, that's what screen-saver means).
Good luck!

Imac Screen Burn-InI was wondering lately... I have a 53 inch LCD screen hooked up to my PS3 and i noticed that screen burn in's are a constant worry of the T.V. designers even when i turn off my PS3 the "no Imput" message moves around the screen to prevent burn-in i also have a 24 inch aluminium imac and i was thinking since it's an LCD too cant it get burn-in especially with the dock and toolbar always there just a thought.
