Mel's dashboard

When I try to open the discover app on my new Ipod Touch (2nd gen) it starts up, displays an error message that says something like, "to connect your iphone, input (ip address) in browser..." etc then it crashes back to the main menu before I can even read the error message! I've tried rebooting a few times and it doesn't work. Help!
