Those are all things that I wish I knew the answer to!

The error that I think this is happens when you try to convert an image that has a lot of red and orange in it - the Chrysanthemum sample photo in Win7 is the one that will always do it for me. I don't know how much red/orange is too much, though!

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.

This looks like a bug I've seen in the Windows Imaging Component - it's fixed in Windows 7, but not yet in Server 2008.

There should be a patch coming out for Server 2008 soon, but it's not available yet. I know this is annoying, because I've run up against it myself a bunch!

Glad to hear it! The long run is actually part of the fix - what's going on in there is that we try to do something the fast way, but sometimes we can't and we run out of memory, so we fail over to the slow way instead. It's not as good, but it's a heck of a lot better than what it WAS doing.

OK, here's what's going on - the Microsoft Downloads site doesn't change URLs for different versions of Deep Zoom Composer. So when both of us went to that link, we got an old, cached copy of its installer, because we'd downloaded it before.

If you empty your browser cache, restart your browser, and then download it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/de...

You'll get the latest one, and everything should work for you.

Did you open your old project and re-output it, or did you re-run the whole thing?

You may have to rebuild the project, unfortunately- that's how I tested it.

Would you be willing to send me your photos and the output that you got so that I can try to reproduce the bug myself and debug it? I'd love to get to the bottom of this one, but I think I'd need to see it in person in order to do so.

That's actually a good sign (though you might not feel that way at the moment). Seadragon Ajax can only use it if you export it with the "Export as a composition (single image)" button checked.

Can you try selecting that option instead, and then following Aseem's steps?

I'm sorry to hear it! This sounds like it might be a problem that I've seen before. If it's the one that I think it is, it's a problem with the .NET Framework.

Do you have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed? If not, try installing it here - and this update for it too.

Please let me know if this works!
