I made some traces whilst starting up. Most of the time Songbird is dealing with file and library operation - about 50%.

It takes 15-20 seconds to start up. A fresh profile will take about 8-10 seconds.
Foobar2k makes this job in 8 seconds independent whether it's fresh or with the current library of 1300 songs.
