Michael Amundson set one of Michael Amundson's replies as an official response to "minimize to taskbar" in Echobit
Michael Amundson replied on June 07, 2009 00:42 to the idea "minimize to taskbar" in Echobit:
Hi mayur,
You can already do this. Apologies that it's not very well documented.
To minimize to the system tray, double click on the green [G] icon in the system tray. LAN Bridger should minimize to the icon. To bring it back, double-click on the icon a second time.
Let us know if this doesn't work. We'll try get this into the documentation shortly.
Thanks for getting in touch!
Michael Amundson set one of Michael Amundson's replies as an official response to "Dynamic IPs LANbridger problem" in Echobit
Michael Amundson replied on May 27, 2009 20:41 to the question "Dynamic IPs LANbridger problem" in Echobit:
Hi Gareth!
This is an issue with LAN Bridger at the moment. The profiles directly store your IP and when your IP changes, the profile no longer works (as you've noticed.)
Our current suggestion is to use a dynamic hostname provider. We like DynDNS--it's free and has a really slick IP updater tool. You can use any dynamic hostname provider you like, of course.
Once you've got a hostname that always resolves to your IP, you can just create a new network profile with LAN Bridger and manually enter in this hostname instead of letting LAN Bridger automatically find your IP. The manual override is one of the options in the "Create a network" wizard.
Now your profile points to the hostname which you can update whenever your IP changes, and the people who connect to you no longer need to get a new profile from you all the time.
We know this solution is not ideal, and we're working on an account system for LAN Bridger that will eliminate the need to use a third party service like DynDNS.
Let us know if you have any trouble getting DynDNS to work, and if you have any other questions.
Happy LAN Bridging!
Michael Amundson replied on April 23, 2009 06:59 to the question "When do you anticipate having a Linux command line version?" in Echobit:
Hi there Warwick! We're already hard at work on the Linux version. It'll be CLI-only at first, with a GUI coming later. We're intending it to operate as a service, so rest-assured it'll be daemon-izable out of the box. Unfortunately, we don't yet know when the Linux version will be ready. However, once it's out you'll be the first to know.
Thanks for getting in touch, and let us know if there's anything else we can do!

Comment counts missing in Kotaku feedThe Kotaku blog feed doesn't seem to be catching comments for posts... a cursory inspection of Kotaku's code indicates it ought to be possible to count the comments (they nest them in a <ul>)
(observed at: http://www.aiderss.com/all/kotaku.com)
Michael Amundson asked a question in PostRank on July 21, 2008 05:21:
Ability to ignore comments when calculating PostRank? As much as comments are a great measurement of post activity, is there any chance we might get an API option to ignore them when calculating PostRank? I understand that auto-identifying comment counts can be something of a voodoo science--it'd be nice if there was an option to ignore comments in favor of all of the (more vetted) data AideRSS collects.
Thanks for your time, and keep up the awesome work!

howto: Share iTunes music over the internetEver wanted to listen to your iTunes shared music over the internet? With LAN Bridger, it's dead easy.
1. Start LAN Bridger on the computer that's sharing the music.
2. Once it opens, host a network, and give the network a name and password.
3. Toss the public profile generated by LAN Bridger on to the computers you'd like to stream the music to.
4. Join your LAN Bridger network using these computers.
Voila! You can now jam to your tunes from anywhere--work included.
