Michael Huang replied on November 04, 2009 23:11 to the question "Original Gorillapod and Olympus stylus 1030sw" in Joby:
Hi Gillian,
Just checked the Olympus website for Stylus 1030sw and it seems that your camera weighs 6.3 oz without battery and media card, which means that it's perfect for the Gorillapod Original (max 11.5 oz).
I'm guessing that the 1lb spec for your camera is a shipping weight, including the box. Or perhaps they rounded up?
I'm glad that you're considering a tough tripod for your tough camera. We'd be happy to answer any other questions you have. Happy picture taking!

Hi Dean,
Which Joby Gorillamobile did your wife order? The Gorillamobile 3G/3GS comes with a hard plastic case that you can snap your iPhone 3G or 3GS into. The Gorillamobile doesn't come with any cases. We actually don't have soft holsters as of now, so I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to.
And in case you wanted a hard case but you've already got a Gorillapod Original (the smallest one), we'll soon be releasing the iPhone 3G/3GS case a la carte.
Does that help?

Michael Huang replied on June 25, 2009 15:37 to the question "Web site suggests original gpod for a Nikon d5000?? Why not SLR-ZOOM?" in Joby:
Ah, I'm sorry for the bug, the recommendation should definitely be something bigger. I'll be working to fix that.
As for what Gorillapod is best for your Nikon, let's look at weights. The D5000 with battery should weigh 522g (dpreview), kit lens should be around 200g (kenrockwell), adding up to 722g, just under the Gorillapod SLR recommendation of 800g.
Even though the D5000 is a fairly lightweight SLR, if you're going to be using large, heavy lenses, then you may want to consider getting a SLR-Zoom. We just released a ballhead for the SLR-Zoom that gives you the same function as the neck on the Gorillapod SLR, but with much greater strength.

Michael Huang replied on March 05, 2009 00:53 to the question "Gorillapod swivel?" in Joby:
The SLR-ZOOM base doesn't swivel or turn, however, Joby just announced a ball head for the ZOOM that does! http://joby.com/jobypr/Joby_Ball_Head...
Michael Huang replied on October 06, 2008 23:37 to the question "will a compact camera fit on the slr & zoom models?" in Joby:
A compact camera will fit fine on the SLR, you can even get extra clips if you're going to use it with several cameras. It'll also fit on the SLR-ZOOM but the SLR-ZOOM doesn't have a quick-release clip for you to rapidly switch cameras with. Additionally, attaching a very small camera to a very large Gorillapod may appear comical to passersby. Hope that helps!
