ExpanDrive has many uses for remote access, and you simply must know the IP or name of the remote target system.

If Finder already sees your laptop, you won't need ExpanDrive and should be using your Mac's built-in sharing features instead: in the Sidebar of Finder on your desktop, simply click on the icon representing your laptop.
