Hey JL,
Unfortunately, the red indicates that this file will not be playable through Grooveshark (Flash will only play files with certain sample rates, and this one probably has one it doesn't like).
I apologize for the confusion; the interface doesn't give a good indication that this is the problem (hopefully we'll fix this soon).

Hey JL,
The uploader will show the metadata editing screen regardless of the quality of the information. It is there to simply allow you to give the info a quick look before uploading.
You should be able to hit the 'Next' button in the lower right hand corner of the applet and continue the upload.
Please let me know if this resolves your issue, or if you have any other problems.
Thanks!
Michael Cugini replied on April 02, 2009 01:43 to the question "Uploading Problem" in Grooveshark:
Hey Robert,
When you open that Selector window, you are actually selecting the Folder where your mp3s are found, not the files themselves. If you go ahead and hit open at that point, the folder should be added to the Uploader's browser, and your mp3s will be visible (See the image below).
Sorry for the confusion (you are definitely not the only one), we are currently working on a better way to visually represent this.
Thanks for your patience!

Glad the uploader is launching for you now!
@Jeremy Currently our player only supports mp3s, though in the past we had support for other formats. M4a support may be added again in the future (now that Flash has support for it).
After scanning your music, the Uploader will check to see if the files are already present in Grooveshark (by the file's unique hash). Only new files are uploaded.
It's possible the files you are uploading are already present in Grooveshark, but a few other people seem to be having a similar problem. The Uploader keeps a log file in your Operating System's temporary folder. It'll be named something like 'groove12345shark.' The log will give us additional info that should let us know if anything went wrong.

I was able to upload the song you sent using the uploader (http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/H_blame_de_amor/22192507 ).
The uploader keeps an error log that might give us more information as to what went wrong. Lets see if that helps pinpoint the problem. What operating system are you using?

Michael Cugini replied on March 04, 2009 08:27 to the question "Uploader doesn't work" in Grooveshark:
Hey Oco! In order to reduce the number of duplicate songs, the Uploader checks to see if Grooveshark already has a file with the same hash. If we do, the file will not be updated (since we already have it).
The song should still show up in your library (can take up to a few hours to appear). If the song doesn't show up, please let us know, and we'll sort out your issue.
Thanks!

Thanks Jeremy. If you could, download the sharklet.jnlp file (select "Save File" instead of "Open With"), and email it to michael.cugini@grooveshark.com.

Don't worry! I'm only asking so I can look into Web Start issues specific to your operating system. Java Web Start should work on most platforms, including Windows Vista. – Michael Cugini, on February 18, 2009 22:14
