true so a portable vlc media player will do just fine. but when songbird comes up to scratch and becomes the music player it should have been before getting side tracked with Firefox style web browsing then it will be useful.
and if they cut out the web browser altogether and separated the media player it would cater for people that dont need for the web browser side of things.

what the hey. do you not realise that having a portable music player in an mp3 player is just the thing. you know the software and can easily use it on someone's computer so you don have to try fumble around trying to figure out there program. its quite have really. it also saves space on the host computer if you have portable programs installed on flash drives.
there are lots of reasons why people would use portable music players.
Mickeyj4j replied on March 23, 2009 21:38 to the idea "EQ and applet" in Songbird:
I just remembered that even the most basic Windows media player has an EQ of some sort. I wonder y the developers did not start with a simple media player get that right first, then work on everything else. seems like they are moving to fast and trying to play the market without getting the basics right.
How do you think apple got such a kick ass music player. they did just that started with the basics got that right and then added improvements.
i would have liked to see this done. you could have worked on a good media player and then got permission to use Firefox for what you need as firefox is what you are basically using.

Mickeyj4j replied on October 14, 2008 23:36 to the question "SELECT AND PLAY A WHOL FOLDER" in Songbird:
um i have tried that but it will only allow me to select a song from a folder. i have a hole folder that i need to play it has multiple folders in it. in media player 11 i can select the main folder then it will play all the songs from the folders contained in it. then i can create a playlist of that if i like.
Mickeyj4j replied on October 14, 2008 11:44 to the idea "EQ and applet" in Songbird:
i agree i think that good sound should come first on the list as a must as this is a music player. put everything else temporarily on hold to developing the sound is definitely a must. or this app may not take off. getting the basics right is a very important thing.
as there is much interest in it so far Hope we do not wait to long.-
