Mike asked a question in PBwiki on April 28, 2009 17:37:
Folder Writer/Editor cannot edit pages in a folderHelp! One of my wiki users is losing access.
I have a number of folders. Some folders are open to all users, some folders are only accessible to specific users. One user ("User A") was assigned as a Writer to Folder X. For the last week, User A can seems to have Read-only access -- User A can look at pages in Folder X, but when she tries to edit, she is told "request access".
From my end, her access seems to be set correctly. I have tried removing and restoring User A's access to the wiki and to Folder X, but she still can't edit anything in Folder X.
Any thoughts? User A is the only one reporting this problem, but several others may not have looked at "their" folder recently.
A comment on the question "Moving pages from one PBwiki to another PBwiki?" in PBwiki:
Okay, that's cool.
When I tried to get help with this before, I sent my comments online at the following page -- I clicked on the "Hep" link in my wiki, then clicked the "Contact Support" button. When you complete the form on the next page then submit, the action is a little weird. It is unclear if the message has been sent or not.
Thanks for this info, I will make use of this to copy and recreate these PBwiki pages.

Mike asked a question in PBwiki on April 21, 2009 02:03:
Moving pages from one PBwiki to another PBwiki? Is it possible to copy or move content from one wiki into another?
I had students create a wiki last spring. Now one of them would like to take the materials/pages she created and use them to begin building her own wiki? Is there any way to do something like this?
I've sent this question twice through the PBwiki site but haven't heard any response yet.

Is there another way? I have about 20 pages that I'd like to recover, which makes copy/paste a hassle but doable. To recover more than a few pages, this would be cumbersome. – Mike, on March 12, 2009 13:00

Recovering old pages from backupI backed up my wiki and would like to recover some of those pages.
In the .zip file, there are .html and .txt files. When I upload either type of file, it is just that -- a file, NOT a wiki page. I thought maybe I could trick PBwiki if I renamed the file -- from "foo.html" or "foo.txt" to just "foo" -- no luck!
I have several pages that I would like to recover -- how can I do this?

Mike asked a question in PBwiki on April 23, 2008 14:42:
Vanishing comments in 2.0!If comments disappear, is there a way to bring them back? Why would comments disappear in the first place?!
I am using 2.0 for a class, with a folder for each student. In that folder, they are Editors, and the rest of the class has no access at all. As an Administrator, I can see their folder and pages in that folder.
I've left some comments on their pages -- "fix this", "I like that", etc. But when they edit those pages, the comments disappear. What happened? They didn't try to remove my comments, and want to see those comments to see what changes I've recommended.
What can I do?
Mike replied on April 20, 2008 01:08 to the problem "Fatal Error trying to browse folder menu" in PBwiki:
When I login as admin, all of my pages are still there. When I click on a folder, it says "There are no pages in this folder." But when I click "View all pages" and choose a page that I know was in a folder, in the right-hand margin I see a list of all the pages in that folder including the page I am looking at).
It also seems that if I create a page, I'm told that "This page can't be deleted or renamed." Once the page is created and saved, it does appear like I've described above. It shows up in "View all pages", and looking at that page I can see the folder view in the right-hand margin, but if I look at the folder, it still says there are no pages.
When I login using an alternate account with limited access, I see the same behavior, just with fewer pages. The access levels seem to be preserved -- this user still can't see pages that weren't available before.
Mike asked a question in PBwiki on April 08, 2008 01:29:
portfolios in version 2.0?Are portfolios available in PBwiki 2.0? I see something about this in my version 1.0 wiki, but can't find this anywhere in my 2.0 wiki.
Mike marked one of Casey Greene's replies in PBwiki as useful. Casey Greene replied to the question "Extra storage space in PBwiki 2.0?".
Mike asked a question in PBwiki on March 20, 2008 15:01:
Extra storage space in PBwiki 2.0?I would like to add more storage space, but this is not an option during the beta period. Any idea when we can add more space? What about about pricing?
Also, I see other posts about "boosts" for sharing. I have invited 30+ people to join my wiki. These are students who are creating their own pages inside of my wiki, and soon they will be at the stage where they will want to upload larger files. If possible, I'd like to make room for this.
Thanks...
Mike replied on February 27, 2008 00:39 to the problem "My edits are not showing when I save. I've done the same thing four times now and changes to my front page do NOT stick. However I can edit other pages. Is this a bug? (ctap4)" in PBwiki:
I just sent some feedback from inside PBwiki 2.0 -- I called it "Problem with Editor in 2.0 -- the mystery of the missing text"
Here's what I sent to the PBwiki team: "I entered some text in the "Edit" window, then saved, but some of the text was missing in the "View". I went back into "Edit" -- the missing text was still missing. I found an awkward workaround -- I copied the entire section, before and after the missing text, pasted that into Word or Notepad, then copied from Word or Notepad, went back to the "Edit" window and pasted -- the visible and invisible text are all there, where expected. I saved, and the "View" page looks like I expected it to."
All of this was inside Firefox (2.0.0.12).
I'm very pleased with 2.0, and I guess this is just one of those things they'll be working on before the formal release.
Mike replied on February 15, 2008 15:50 to the question "Version 2.0: How can I send several invitations at once?" in PBwiki:
That sounds like it would work, but I have one more question: from Step D above, what level of access would these users have initially? Do they start with "reader" access or "editor" access?
Of course I can change this as soon as I see the users have joined, but I am curious about the default level for new users.
Mike asked a question in PBwiki on February 14, 2008 22:27:
Version 2.0: How can I send several invitations at once?I want to share a class wiki with several of my students -- this wiki is in version 2.0. How do I send an invitation to them all at once?
From "Edit wiki settings", "Access controls", "Users", it appears that you can only add users one at a time.
At https://MYVERYOWNWIKI.pbwiki.com/shar..., I see that I can "share" a wiki with several people. Elsewhere in the PBwiki web there has been discussion about first having people create their own account, then joining your wiki.
Now I'm confused, and I'm eager to hear the best way to bring people into the PBwikiworld.

Mike reported a problem in PBwiki on February 14, 2008 04:04:
'Fatal error' when linking to wikiI was happy to receive a golden ticket, and began a new wiki 'mth4040' with several pages and folders. I set the wiki to 'public', and then attempted to view the page by typing or linking to the wiki directly. I get the following:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: dbg() in /var/coceve/pbwiki/common/drivers/PageSecurityDriver.inc on line 338
I also tried inviting a user -- this other persona was just me using a different email address. This other user/persona couldn't get in even after accepting the invite, unless I (as adiminstrator) set their access level as 'page-level access'. Any other level led to the same error, even when 'mth4040' was listed on my.pbwiki.com
What's going on here?
(I posted a similar comment on the 'Beta Feedback', but I figured I'd ask around)
