Yes, we will definitely update this thread once that feature is available. – Lesley, on June 12, 2008 15:38

CoPe, you will be able to drag and drop your location on a map very soon. :) – Lesley, on June 12, 2008 15:06

Great! Glad you got it working. You can add a custom label to any lat-long location you use by adding [Insert Name] after your coordinates. Once you are able to click on a map to set your location, it should help with a lot of these types of problems. – Lesley, on June 10, 2008 23:39

Just to be sure I understand correctly...when you signed up you successfully entered your location and were able to create a placemark? Then the placemark got deleted and now your location that you entered before is no longer showing up? – Lesley, on June 10, 2008 23:05

I put my address in when I first signed up and it seemed like it worked fine. However, the place mark is gone, and now my home address no worky. Kinda put off by that. But hey, that is why you call this 'BETA' right? How will I know when this is fixed- I am not going to randomly put my address in hoping that one day it will work.

I find this frustrating as well. It's sort of a complicated issue that we are working hard to resolve. In the meantime, you can check in using lat-long and placemark that location for easier checkins. I know it's not the most convenient workaround, but it's been helpful to users experiencing this problem. Soon you will be able to drag and drop your location on a map to select your location. :) – Lesley, on June 10, 2008 20:55

Unsurprising. If you search Businesses for Big Lots in Yorktown, VA, you get the business, but clicking it confuses the site (it can't find the address). On the iPhone it's worse, just small black text on a white background saying "not found". In reality, it just can't turn Mem (google's version) into Memorial (Brightkite's version). It also can't handle just "Highway 17", or Hwy 17, which should theoretically work fine. Just like how nuthatch is looking for a highway number, but Brightkite only knows the name. – Thomas, on May 23, 2008 05:21

I'm not affiliated at all with this guy or product, but I stumbled upon it and have used it with great success on my WM 6.1 phone. http://www.luisespinosa.com/trackme_e...
I use it w/my GPS. It writes KML files and uploads them to Google, where I can then track my movements nearly Live. It has an option to look for 'friends' but I assume those are just people that use the service. Where I live, there are never any. But if this guy can schelp together something like this, I assume BrightKite can out-do this. Real-time /semi realtime tracking of friends etc. Every location (address etc) can be converted to GPS coordinates.. and vice versa. This is more like what I thought/hoped BrightKite would be about.

I would love this in a mobile client. I too have a GPS enabled phone. It would be nice to see visually locations of friends inside Google Maps or Msn Live Search!! I'm surprised it's not here yet, since this is a mobile client. Please pay more attention to WM phones since GPS capable phones are getting more common.

I've just posted this elsewhere but seems relevant - let us fine tune the position of placemarks on the map and that will solve a lot of problems. I wanted to set my position in my University Department but searching for it either changes the post code (search for LE11 3TU brings back LE11 2) or picks a point on the wrong side of the campus. If I could just drag that pointer across that would be problem solved
