This is now happening to me really frequently on both computers. Two different Macs, one PPC running 10.4, the other Intel running 10.5. Different users, sometimes logged in sometimes not.
It just opens and comes to the foreground- if you're logged in you get whatever you have opened, if you're not you get the green login box.

Spotify on Mac launching without being askedI'm finding recently that Spotify just automatically launches on Mac, without being clicked on. It's happening pretty frequently on our G4 iBook running OS 10.4, and less frequently on an Intel Mac running 10.5. I'll just be using my computer, then suddenly Spotify will open and log in. Is there a shortcut key I don't know about that I'm hitting?-

Mike reported a problem in Spotify on June 18, 2009 16:54:
Couldn't sync playlists, now most playlists have disappeared.I've been getting 'Could not synchronize playlists. Retrying...' messages constantly for a few months (see this thread http://getsatisfaction.com/spotify/to... for info and my conversation with Andres) and have tried reinstalling etc, to no avail.
Today I logged into Spotify and most of the playlists I had on my desktop computer are gone- I'm down to virtually the same list from the last time they synced, back in February. Logging into Spotify on my laptop, however, brought up the most recent playlists from the last time I used it (but didn't download anything newer). I reinstalled Spotify but that hasn't helped- the same old playlists synced again.
My workaround has always been to save my 'user' folder in Dropbox and manually sync between the two computers, but that's not working any more.

No it's the opposite- the first 20 or so playlists I created behave properly. Anything newer than that doesn't sync. (I create a lot of playlists to bookmark artists I like so I have a lot of experience of this :)) – Mike, on June 10, 2009 08:58

Andres, I just deleted Spotify completely using AppCleaner, then downloaded a fresh copy. I logged in and... 20 older playlists appeared (the ones I had before the 'Could not synchronise...' error started appearing), but no more. It's like I reached a limit on my playlists and no more will sync, no matter what I do. – Mike, on June 08, 2009 21:20

Yep, I first commented here 3 months ago so I guess it's been happening since early March. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling, but I get the same error message on both my OS 10.5 desktop and a OS 10.4 laptop, and I'm pretty sure I started getting them on both computers around the same time. I'll try the reinstall this evening. – Mike, on June 08, 2009 14:45

Andres, this is exactly what's been happening for me for the past few months. I've tried clearing the cache, logging out etc, but no matter what I do I still get the yellow error messages every few minutes. I sync my user folder manually now using Dropbox, though that obviously doesn't stop the error messages.
I'm also getting a few of the '!' icons on my playlists, not sure if they're related to sync issues or not. Thanks. – Mike, on June 08, 2009 12:33

I'm still getting the error- pretty much as pedrox describes. I've managed to manually sync the playlists to my laptop by just dropping my user file from my desktop into my Dropbox, then replacing the user file on my laptop with that one. But the sync errors still happen every time I use Spotify, on either machine.

Certainly- my user name is Halazoon.
I think this is the last playlist I ever got to sync :
spotify:user:halazoon:playlist:44OuANEjmMjRoLGegGLGUg
The next one in my list never has:
spotify:user:halazoon:playlist:48fNf2ZFYGH2712MbwmxyR
Here are some more that haven't ever synced:
spotify:user:halazoon:playlist:2LvvUrxPcgi0MLH6pcqta8
spotify:user:halazoon:playlist:6My6eXrXCE6518y2to4jM8
spotify:user:kieron:playlist:5Rrf7mqN8uus2AaQQQNdc1
spotify:user:halazoon:playlist:0vggpsFI0pOWmdzxbbKEKB
Thanks for your help Andres.

That hasn't worked- my laptop's still only getting the first 23 playlists (I have about 50- maybe that's too many?)
I've emptied/ deleted that folder but when I log back into Spotify it still only receives the first 23 playlists. I also tried it the opposite way- deleting the cache from Spotify on my desktop computer- but that didn't work either, when I reopened Spotify on my desktop it only had the first 23 playlists (until I replaced the Spotify folder with the old one I'd dropped in the trash, then the rest came back).
My desktop's Spotify is still saying "Could not synchronize playlists. Retrying..." every few minutes, and my laptop's only ever got those first 23 playlists.

Sorry I should have said I'm on a Mac- any ideas how I do that on OS X?
My cache is at /Library/Caches/com.spotify.client/Storage - can I just delete all the folders in there?
Also, the problem seems to be on my desktop (where I mostly use Spotify)- it's not syncing the playlists to Spotify in the first place, so they never make it to my laptop. Thanks! – Mike, on March 24, 2009 16:14
