We've tested that a good bit, and it doesn't seem to wait for 5 minutes before it allows you to steal a lock. We are able to steal locks from each other at will - no waiting.

Thanks. I appreciate your response. This makes good sense. It just seems the verbiage in that clause is too inclusive and could more clearly indicate the pass through scenario you describe. – Mike W, on June 25, 2008 16:32

Troublesome clause in terms of service
    Hi,

Everything in the terms of service (http://pbwiki.com/content/termsofservice) looks great. It essentially says I own everything that's added to my PBWiki. However, the following clause seems inconsistent with everything around it and makes me think I should pull everything off my site so that I won't lose intellectual property on my wiki. Can someone please explain the purpose and meaning of this clause? If I have information in a private wiki, does this give the company ownership and/or the right to distribute this information? Should I explicitly copyright my wiki pages? Does this clause override that copyright?

I'm hesitant to continue with my subscription without clarification. Thanks. Here's the clause:

"However, to enable Company to provide the pbwiki Service, you grant Company a worldwide and fully sub-licensable license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform, and publicly display your User Submissions (in whole or in part) in any format or medium now known or later developed."

Thanks for the link to the earlier thread. I'm still not very successful with search on this new forum.

This would be incredibly useful for educators, and I'd feel more comfortable steering other educators this way if that were in place and made seeing student contributions easier.

The need is heightened by the fact that the changes.php page now is limited to only 4 pages, which for an active wiki may only go back several days. I emailed support thinking it was a bug, since I used to be able to get the full history. Based on the response from support at the end of this post, it looks like it was intentional.

Now it seems the only way to do this is go to the history for each individual page - very, very cumbersome. I would think a fairly simple query and some quick php work could lead to a very useful resource for educators.

Do forum posts lead to official enhancement requests? Thanks.

    Hi Mike -

Thanks for bringing this back to my attention. First let me apologize for not getting back to you quicker.

We are now limitting the list of changes available on all wikis to just four pages.

I do apologize for any inconveinence this may have cause.

    edit report by user?
    Hi,

We're using pbwiki for educational purposes. It would be great if we could get a report that shows edits made by an individual user, across pages - very much like the current report you get when you click on the history link for a page.

However, we'd like to see an individuals edit history across pages. Is this possible? history and changes.php don't quite do it.
