    More details: I removed Songbird and my profile, reinstalled Songbird and see the same behavior. I start Songbird from Console in Safe Mode, and receive the following warnings, Songbird starts up, I test media import (fails), I exit Songbird, but two songbird processes and a songbird-bin process remain in the system monitor after I exit, so I Ctrl-C:

    songbird: command not found
    mikeweadley@angel:~$ songbird -safe-mode

    I restart Songbird and encounter similar errors, and I am still unable to import media. This time the Songbird processes exit and control returns to the terminal without requiring a Ctrl-C.

    Cannot import any media using File - Import Media
    I cannot import media in Songbird 1.2 on Xubuntu Koala.

    I am trying to use the File | Import Media command to read in files from a networked Samba disk. I can open files and play them from the disk, but am encountering the following problems importing media:
    a) The first time I try Import Media there is no dialog that comes up
    b) The second time I try it, the dialog comes up but never completes, even when importing a folder of just 10-15 songs.

    I have been encountering some of the gstreamer issues others have seen on Koala. However, even when Songbird comes up cleanly the Import Media is not working for me. There are no error messages in the console.

    Any ideas re: cause or advice for diagnosing the problem?
