While not having a solution, I, too, suffer from this problem. As far as I understood it, the new copyprotection scheme incorporated into the Mass Effect game might cause this problem. As far as I have understood it, it tries to connect to a server in regular intervals and tries to ascertain that the copy of ME ist still an original copy of the game.
How it does that exactly is beyond my knowledge, I only know that the CP scheme is a SecuROM one.

I have experienced the same Problems with SKPF. A few months ago it had conflicts with Network Manager, so I uninstalled it, but it didn't really uninstall. Installing the latest version seemed to help. I play on Second Life; SKPF had to be disabled for it to work, but later on, it let me play. I have just installed a Windows update, and now I am connected to the internet, but no programs can get on. Uninstalled SKPF, and guess what? It's still running - it didn't uninstall.

Mike Williams replied on July 03, 2008 19:03 to the question "I would love to try CounterSpy, if I could actually install it..need help!" in Sunbelt Software:
Hi John,
Thank you for posting your question. Error 1720 means that a script used during the install isn't able to run.
I wasn't able to locate your ticket to see what our technician sent to you.
Try disabling all other security software installed on the computer. Many anti-virus and firewall products include script blocking.
If you continue to have the problem, contact us back, we will figure it out what is happening for you.

Glad to hear you are on the latest version. If this is a single player RPG there could be a number of causes.
If you can contact us here in tech support at support@sunbelt-software.com One of our techs can get some logs from your system, we'll take a look and see if we can figure out what part of the firewall is triggering the game to drop.

Thank you for posting your question. I looked up the Mass effect game If I'm correct this game is played online against others. The most probable cause for the problem is that the firewall is getting overwhelmed trying to resolve the IP addresses of all the computers connected to the network. to correct this Open the firewall by double clicking on the icon in the system tray. Go to the Overview / connections tab. Right click on the list of connections and uncheck “resolve address”.
In your initial question you mentioned KPF. We have made many improvements since obtaining the firewall from Kerio. I would recommend that yoiu upgrade to the latest version. Below is a direct link.

Thank you for posting your question. The normal cause for this error is that a file inside CounterSpy has been corrupted. I think it would be best to do a clean install.
To do this remove CounterSpy through the add/remove programs utility in the Windows control panel. Then click on start then "My Computer" then navigate to and uninstall the following directory c:\program files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy.
Shut down all other security programs on the computer and reinstall from the following link.

Mike Williams replied on July 03, 2008 16:51 to the problem "Why can't I remove security risks?" in Sunbelt Software:
Try running as scan in safe mode and see if CounterSpy is able to complete the removal. To enter safe mode, restart the computer, before the Windows splash screen appears, hit the F8 key and enter safe mode. If counterspy is able to complete the removal, If CounterSpy successfully removes the items restart the computer into regular mode.
If the problem continues, try uninstalling CounterSpy through the add-remove program utility in your computers control panel. then reinstall from the following link.

Thanks Mike- How do I uninstall Sunbelt Firewall when it is already deleted from ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. I already tried to uninstall and Sunbelt Firewall is no longer there. But, it still shows up as icon at bottom of Windows homepage and recognized as running by Windows security center and still listed under ALL PROGRAMS. – Alec, on June 27, 2008 13:28

Hi Alec,
Thanks for posting your question. Try uninstalling the firewall again then use the following utility to clear up any files and registry keys left behind.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/S...
Then I would recommend that you install version 4.6 it's still in beta testing but is very stable.

The problem you described could also be caused by having a second firewall installed on the computer. Even if the other firewall is disabled, conflicts can occur. so if you have one, make sure you uninstall it before installing the Sunbelt Personal Firewall again.
