Just a couple ideas off the top (and maybe a bit from the middle) of my head:

Sharing a mailbox could be good for, say, family notification. Family members can send messages to the whole family with just one address.

It would also be nice for if an account on a specific website was shared between multiple people, but only one e-mail could be registered.

I would want something more secure than just a URL based system though. A password is a must, just in case that URL gets out (especially if you don't realize it has gotten out).

How about navigate to "http://username.oib.com" and log in with mailbox name (not necessarily the address, so that "11491AFB943@user..." could be called "Family Mailbox") and a password. A sub-domain specific username could also be given to people you share with, letting each person you share with have their own UN/PW combination. This would be made easier if each person had a OIB UN/PW, but that can't be expected.

I would recommend having the link on the sign-up page for the terms open on a separate layer over the rest of the page. It saves having to reenter the passwords when going back to the form.
