Part of the problem is that it doesn't seem to remember to forget. It remembers for a while then later on it will try and merge the same contacts again. I am not sure what is causing that, could be after edits or something.

More Sync Points

Contails should enable syncing with lots of other platforms.

First and foremost, the ability to sync back and forth with my email address books, both online and off. This could include Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc

Second, the ability to sync with my social networks. Being able to pull data from my social networks into Contails, merge and edit that information, then sync it back up would be incredible.

Third, other address book sites. Even though I primarily use Contails now I do still dabble with others and the ability to sync between them would be incredible. It would allow me to combine the best of your features and the best of theirs (that is until you implement those same features :P)

I have been using Contails for a bit now and even without using mobile sync it is already showing a lot of potential. I have switched from using Plaxo to Contails both because of the existing features and because of the possibilities that I see in it.

Auto-suggest Details

Contails should be able to suggest contact data by searching for relevant information. This could be done with something like Google's Social Graph, by pulling information from online profiles, or by doing searches. Obviously I would have to approve any additions to my contacts profiles.

Support more details

I would like to see the ability to add "Spouse:" "Anniversary:" "Group:" "Category:" "Logo:" "Gender:" "Children:" and others. If possible even a "Add Custom Detail" option that could be per contact or for all contacts. That would allow me to specify a "Spouse" field for example, even if you don't explicitly support it.

Bulk Detailed Display

Allow a more complete bulk display of contacts, such as:

Contact1, email, phone, address, etc
Contact2, email, phone, address, etc

This would help me to weed out non-obvious duplicates and unnecessary contacts.

Tag as "Self"

Allow me to specify a contact as "Me." Some of my address books have listed me as a contact for myself and it is just easier to keep myself in there. This should be able to sync with my profile data.

Don't suggest merging family members

Merge Suggest keeps suggesting that family members are the same person. Just because two or more contacts have the same last name and/or address and/or phone numbers does not mean they are the same person.

Contails should automatically merge EXACT duplicate. It is frustrating when half or more of the mergers I have to do are exact duplicates. Sometimes exact duplicates aren't even suggested as mergers for some reason.

Can't save or merge without a name.

It appears I am unable to save or merge contacts if they have an empty "Name" field. Some of my contacts are just companies, and so I only fill in the "Company" field, and others I only know by there last name resulting in only "Surname" and "Title" fields. Please allow null name contacts!
