Also it would then be possible, without somebody noticing, that they may post too many pictures and suddenly be unable to receive anymore email messages. They only way to stop this is to set a limit that leaves space at either end. Ideally they should let us specify how much is dedicated to each service.

Some of those mailing lists being marked as SPAM may be because some individuals have been using those, or similar channels to send out spam.

One thing that I have started to do recently is to use Otherinbox for all of my mailing lists and newsletters. This helps me to keep it separate from my personal and business communications and helps it to avoid the spam filters.

As a side note, I have actually not had any problems with Gmail's spam system and have been surprised with how reliable it is compared to any of the other spam systems I have used. Every few days I quickly scan my spam folder then delete the whole lot of them, and virtually every time there is nothing of interest.
