also please try updating the BIOS on your comp and that will fix the issue..
else please try turning on uyour comp just by using the battery it may show us whether the battery is defective or not .
if issue still exist then please try charging the battery by keeping the comp off (note: charge the battery atleast for 2 hour to get some power in the battery) and then turn on the comp just by using the battery...
some how that would resolve the issue....
Mohd Sharez replied on September 07, 2009 18:52 to the question "Why don't they recall them??" in Dell:
Hi friend
Let me inform you something here.
Dell sells thousands of XPS computer everyday but very few people have this type of issue...
Let me inform you if your comp is under warranty then Dell will surely help you get the comp fix and also Dell does not entertain any third party component getting added to their comp...
I am telling you everything personal
Even I use a Dell XPS m1330 laptop but I never had any issue with my comp and it is working as it is design to work though I am using it from past 15 months I never had any issue with it...
It completely depended on you. How you use your comp and it is not a Dell issue...
Let me give you an example
If you purchase a car and then while you are driving it there is some problem with the car. Who is responsible is it you or the car manufacturer?
Like-wise Dell manufactures its comp by keeping the usage of people...
It’s totally on you how you use your comp....

thank my dear friend using the advice.
I would like to inform you that
if you are performing BIOS update then you must have Administrator rights.
if that doesnot work then try updating the bios by booting from safe mode in windows
to boot to safe mode tap F8 key on your keyboard at DELL logo
and then chose the option as
Safe Mode and hit enter.
please Logon to windows using the admintrator account.
then run bios update.
i am sure that will definately resolve...
also lemme inform you that DELL representatives donot entertain Non-DELL batteries or any third party battery, just as Human toch i explained you the steps which I know. ALL the best

Mohd Sharezs replied on September 02, 2009 02:47 to the question "Inspiron E1505 battery plugged in but won't charge" in Dell:
Hi friends
try using the different AC adapter or turn on the comp only by using battery.
check whether the battery is getting charged in BIOS
then
Try updating the Bios on your comp by visiting http://support.dell.com
from there select the option as I am looking for the driver. and then type the service tag of your comp and download and the BIOS on your comp desktop.
Note: for updating BIOS you need at least 10% battery charge.
90% of time this will resolve the issue.
else you comp battery will be faulty
contact DELL Tech support and ask for a repalcement if the battery is within a year of purchase.
