I was able to make make the W:\ drive work on Windows 2000 SP4 (install NetBEUI), but I still can't fast-forward movies I try to view from Wuala like I can from XP SP2. So, I can still upload & download from inside Wuala but its not as easy to use as it is on my XP computer.

Wuala is a great program. I use it on 3 different machines and like every second of it. I also try to convert my colleagues.

My only peeve is Windows 2000 support. Your previous message gave me some hope but it might be misplaced. So to clarify matters : will your company investigate the problems with Win2k or is it pointless to expect a fix?

Wuala does sometimes run on Win2K, but most people have problems to get it running.

Ja, wir werden oft gefragt, ob man den Gruppenstatus nachträglich ändern kann. Bisher ist das leider noch nicht möglich, obwohl ich es kürzlich gerade praktisch gefunden hätte. Ist auf unserer Wunschliste.

Cax, I think these are all interesting ideas which we also have on our long-term roadmap. An API would be very nice. What kind of applications would you like to build or like to see built on top of Wuala? With file system integration and proper write access, you could already start with a very simple application on top of Wuala.

I think we are seeing different sides.

For instance, in 99% of time I use wuala as my personal repository and for backup, not for sharing files. Therefore, The UI is not so important. It could a web UI.

I am a developer and I see wuala as a platform (at least should be), as we are seeing it as a client for sharing files.

As a platform, I would be able to define my own wualaFS infrastructure, sharing disks in my own network, creating "local" DFS, for instance. In addition to that, we could use the API to create custom UIs for web, or any other device we want to.
I see wualaFS is part of the wuala infrastructure. A DFS that we can mount and use, something like Fuse/MacFuse.

In summary, I see wuala as an infrastructure for DFS. Where you can plug on top of that anything you want. However, you in Wuala, are seeing it as a social networking tool for sharing files.
I guess this is the difference ;)

Follow-up: Habe es jetzt glaube ich mehr oder weniger selbst lösen können.
Wenn ich direkt auf den in windows eingebundenen datenträger zugreife kann ich auch ordner kopieren. je tiefer ich dabei in die ordnerstruktur gehe, desto wahrscheinlicher ist es, dass es auch wirklich klappt und keine fehlermeldung erscheint. "X kann nicht kopiert werden: Der Remotespeicherdienst konnte die Datei nicht zurückrufen". Wenn ihr noch bessere Tipps habt wäre ich denen gegenüber sehr aufgeschlossen. Vielen Dank auf jeden Fall schon einmal, Moritz und auch Oona für eure wirklich rasche Hilfe!

Das Kopieren von Dateien oder Ordnern klappt vielleicht nur kann ich sie dann nich in meine private Gruppe pasten? der Paste-Button im Rechtsklick-Menü funktioniert leider nicht und im oberen Reiter ist er grau hinterlegt sprich inaktiv?
Bin ich zu doof oder ist die einzige Lösung wirklich Gigabyte-weise herunterzuladen und dann mit 14k hochzuladen :-|

Rechts-Klick auf die Datei und dann "Kopieren (Datei)" und dann in der neuen Gruppe rechts-klick und "Einfügen" oder den Ordnerbaum benutzen und dann die Dateien rüberkopieren bzw. schieben.

Eigentlich kannst du einfach alle Ordner markieren und dann "Copy File" im Menü auswählen und dann in der anderen Gruppe "Paste".
Müsste gehen...

Du kanst grundsätzlich wenn du eine neue Gruppe erstellst wählen ob du möchtest, dass die Gruppe gelistet ist ode rnicht. Wenn die Gruppe nicht gelistet ist, aknn sich auch keiner bewerben.

Vielen Dank schon mal für die flotte Antwort. Nun gleich die 2. Frage. Wie kopiere ich die Dateien dann in die neue Gruppe? Kürzel Strg+C bzw. StrG+X funktionieren nicht?
Muss ich die Dateien erst alle runterladen, damit ich sie dann nachher wieder hochladen kann oder kann ich sie auch gleich alle virtuell rüberkopieren?

Das geht leider nicht. Du kannst aber eine neue Gruppe erstellen und die Dateien in die neue Gruppe rüberkopieren. Das ist zwar nicht sehr komfortabel und du verlierst die Kommentare auf Dateien, ist aber im Moment die einzige Lösung.

We are doing our best to fix these issues as soon as possible.

The following aspects might be helpful for us to solve this issue:
- Did Wuala work on this machine before or is this a new installation?
- If Wuala worked before, did you do any other updates bsides the automatic Wuala updates, which might have broken Wuala
- Which version of Java do you have and what kind of processor is in your computer?

We are not yet able to replicate this problem with Mac OS X 10.5, neither with the older version of Java, nor with the newest update from Apple.

We are really sorry for the inconvenience and hope to fix this as soon as possible.
