Morton Fox's dashboard

When my client retrieves statuses from the friends timeline through the API, any statuses in the timeline that are longer than 140 characters are delivered in truncated form. Is there a way for it to retrieve a non-truncated version of the status via the API?

I thought http://twitter.com/statuses/show/id.xml would return the non-truncated status but it too truncates the status.
