Link to roadmap / release notesI'm starting to get into using the roadmap to pick issues to fix and close them as i go along however when i then want to go back to the road map its quite some navigating or going back in history twice (no biggie).
It would be cool if some stuff linked too other section on the issue screen:
Found in 0.1.6.0 <--> Open > found in version 0.1.6.0
To be fixed in 0.1.6.0 <-- link to roadmap if active version or to filter similar to previous link.
Other stuff could link too other pages as well.

Sounds like reasonable reasoning but it kinda kills the workflow :) – Martijn Laarman, on June 18, 2009 10:14

Filter pager reposition on stack after post.Similar to issue 173 if I change the estimates of an issue I reposition myself on the stack.
So I am looking at this while changing the estimate:
« Previous Viewing 1 of 13 issue(s) Next »
then jump to
« Previous Viewing 3 of 13 issue(s) Next »
after posting.

Resolving issues loses selection pagingI'm a huge fan of the next and previous links on the issue page. This context is lost however if I resolve an issue which goes to a project > area > issues filter it seems.
A comment on the problem "Chrome CSS mime-type misinterpreted" in hedgehog lab:
Until recently i didn't have problems either just at home now it has jumped to my work place as well. Really clearing the cache of everything and restarting Chrome triggered this for me. – Martijn Laarman, on June 18, 2009 10:04
A comment on the problem "Caching problems" in hedgehog lab:
I just retested and the area select is definitely not refreshing on while using IE7 atleast. Changing project has no effect, yes it gets the area's belonging to the project however it's the already cached list not the most up to date list. Key here is that i loaded the area's in that dropdown belonging to the project before adding a new one. – Martijn Laarman, on June 18, 2009 09:38

Caching problemsGo to "create new issue" select a project and select an area now go to administration and create a new area for the project go back to create new issue and reselect the same project. The new area is not showing up even ctrl + f5 doesn't get it.

Modified items on the dashboard very undescriptive (and yet another rant on the dashboard)..I just changed a bunch estimates on old issues and these came up as followed on the DashBoard
Modified 205 Martijn Laarman an instant ago
Modified 208 Martijn Laarman an instant ago
Modified 210 Martijn Laarman an instant ago
Modified 215 Martijn Laarman an instant ago
Modified 214 Martijn Laarman one minute ago
Modified 215 Martijn Laarman one minute ago
Which is rather undescriptive. I appreciate that doing a diff on the before and after state on an object is a rather painstaking task but if those messages were to be implemented (say "Due date changed, Changed Found In.") it would really kick ass.
The above also kinda proves my reported issues with grouping by project and only seeing the last 5 changes. I also added comments that will now very likely won't be replied to anytime soon since they don't show up on the dashboard nor could i notify folks of the fact i commented. The only way they see it is if they revisit that one issue.
Maybe i think of issues too much as forum posts, if i revisit a forum unvisited or changed threads and posts get highlighted and i get a real sense of activity something the dashboard doesn't provide me.
Also if mass operations were implemented it would really be handy if they came up as 1 action on the dashboard as well.
I'll stop posting about issues i have with the dashboard now i think i got my point across :) I really don't like the dashboard as it is now.

Fixx administrator area javascript errorHey guys,
Just to report a javascript error, since "class" is a reserved javascript keyword IE chokes. A bit annoying if you have script debugging enabled in IE.
.
I normally don't use IE for general browsing but the fixx css file doesnt load in my Chrome at home (it does at work) so i assume this is a 'bug' on my part :)
Martijn Laarman replied on June 12, 2009 18:57 to the question "[1.8] email notification improvements ?" in hedgehog lab:
Thanks for the excellent feedback guys. Perhaps a special email settings page in the administration tab could help remove unwanted clutter from the reporting page and thus minimize on duplicating functionality ? This way fixx could work the way it always has out of the box but could also satisfy spam heads like myself :)

Faceted search viewOne thing I and my colleagues have a hard time adjusting too is the filter interface on the views. Whilst it shows hard work went in to this and is all in all very well implemented its not a very intuitive interface (for us atleast).
Since Fixx already runs on Tomcat you could possible start using Solr as an indexer. One really cool feature of solr (other then it being super fast) is the ability to facet your results.
The facets of a result set could go on the right under action that way you have 2 ways of limiting your issues trough a filter and trough facets.

[1.8] Status column missingThe Status column was unsortable in previous versions (quite annoyingly)and now its been completely removed, this is causing me big griefs.
EDIT: My first post was a bit harsh (harsher as i've now removed bits) and after digging harder i can see the the the resolutions are prefixed in a yellow block in the title column.
I was also under the impression that you couldn't filter on resolution type but it turns out you have to select a project before you can filter on resolution type.
This moves everything to the filter, it'll be something I have to get use to as Im not a big fan of the filter (you can save but cant edit).
I still like to be able to sort on status.

[1.8] Backup And RestoreThe new restore and backup feature is brilliant but could be a little more user friendly:
- If the backup directory is a fixx global setting.
- Hitting "backup now" would generate a file name (fixx-{version}-backup-{date}-{time}.xml) for you.
- Restore would list all xml files in the backup directory from settings matching fixx-{version}.*.xml that you can just select to restore from.
- Fixx API support for backing up so backup automation can be programmed easy peasy :)

[1.8] Dashboard without grouping of projectsHey I was wondering where you guys stand on this, I reported this a couple of times and really hoped to see it gone from 1.8. To me the grouping just stands in the way of getting a clear chronological descending (latest first) view of what I missed. The project would suffice as a column value.
Martijn Laarman asked a question in hedgehog lab on June 11, 2009 10:44:
[1.8] email notification improvements ?I was wondering whether anything has changed regarding email notifications ? I CTRL+F 'ed for "email" on the changes list to no avail.
We (developers) really like to send out more emails to draw the attention of clients (and managers) who don't login to see bugs 10 times a day :) Right now I'm not certain a comment I make is going to get noticed and thus often resort to emailing the client myself notifying him that i need more input or that I've fixed bugs he's opened.
What would be really cool is if:
- Users can opt to listen to projects/area's getting email notifications of anything that happens. With some flood protection of course so that emails are only send every 10 minutes containing stuff that happened.
-When commenting have a checkbox that says "notify users related to this project". so that i can send a message to the client, assignee etc.
- Clients recieve a daily email of updates to issues they've opened. A sort of report of progress sort of speak. To clients such a feature is gold. ("Hey look they've fixed that annoying bug in the next version!")
I know my email heavy philosophy goes against your core being Sarat but having the option to turn Fixx into a as email heavy (or lean) system as you can personally tollerate would really add value imo.
