True, but hacking up production code is stretching my love a tad too far even as low-risk-estimate as style changes are :) – Martijn Laarman, on April 27, 2009 09:12

True but this is often overlooked, which in turn is our (consumers) fault for not being educated enough i suppose. The need for automated emails stems more from a lack of overview in Fixx. I've posted several issues i have with the Dashboard that prevent me from using it as a place where i can f5 on to see what i missed.
- Dashboard shouldn't be grouped in my opinion but only sorted descending on date. The grouping often leads to overlooking changes in other projects and only seeing the last 5 changes per group has gotten me in trouble before (entirely my fault i know!).
- Dashboard doesn't show newly created issues (1.7)
I agree, i much rather force myself to go the fixx's index to see what's up. We can force ourselves to do so but our clients wont check back to see new comments regularly. A different set of rules should apply in my opinion for non users of fixx. They should get an email for every change in issues they've started or commented in.
Another note i want to raise is that while i think keeping the email messages to a bare minimum out of the box is a great thing however i do feel Fixx could greatly be improved with project based settings so we can enforce our own business rules when we see fit.
think:
- Notify all users of issue updates they're active in.
- Notify project lead (of everything)
- Global project watch.
Sometimes projects are that critical you need to act quickly, and as a developer i rather use my issue tracker as a means of communication in these cases. If i don't respond quickly testers, managers and clients will resort to different means of communication to get my attention and we all read enough joelonsoftware to know thats a bad thing :)

Mass operations issues listNot sure if this has been asked before or not but the ability to close/fixx issues 'en masse' would be greatly appreciated. Here's my work flow:
- Open issue
- Resolve issue to fixed
- Wait on client to confirm or fixed version to roll out.
- Close issue.
This can mean however that I can have [insert reasonably large number here] 'Fixed' issues in my 'Open' issue list If I could select them all and hit close it would save me going over all 40 issues individually which gets rather time consuming.

I'd also love to see an email to all involved parties (assignee, project lead, issue submitter, anyone who commented). A bit like how getsatisfaction works if it wasnt for the emails i'd miss alot of good comments. Issue tracking is often critical and we rather get too much then too few emails, that might be us though.

New issues not showing up in the dashboardyesterday i had the misfortune of doing a release whilst overlooking some newly created issues.
I viewed the dashboard and saw 2 new comments by the clients and 3 resolve actions by myself and assumed the 2 new comments were the only issues with the release i had done.
However the client submited 8 new bugs that never made it into the dashboard.
Admittingly overlooking the new issues is totally my own fault but i really want the dashboard to be a place i can F5 on and see all the new actions in fixx. With that in mind the general concensus from myself and the rest of my colleagues is that the grouping by project and limiting the issues to 5 per project on the dashboard doesn't work quite well. I understand that for many this may be optimal however.
What we are really looking for is just a list of the latest 25 or so actions in fixx maybe even a paginated listview like view. N
Irrigardless of the view the model should expose newly created issues as well to the dashboard controller.

Edit filtersYou can add and remove filters but not edit existing ones. Especially for reasonably complex filters this would be very handy.

dashboard titlesEvaluating fixx is over and all in all were really pleased with Fixx no regrets whatsoever, except for 1 issue which is perceived as a great miss from our part.
Our management has one big issue that even causes some irritation and that is that the dashboard doesn't show the titles of the issues.
You see something happened to issue #123 and the comment or action but what is really missed is the title of the issue to give meaning to #123.
IMO theres space for 2 lines the first being the (truncated) title and the second being the action/comment but i trust GUI decisions are in great hands with hedgehog labs.
I'd like to thank you guys for taking all our suggestions serious and even implementing a whole bunch of them. Can't wait for 1.8 any hints on a release date by the way ? ;)

Delete own issue User/ClientsIm certain if this has been posted or not:
Users cannot close or delete their own issues. Not tested but i assume Clients can't either.

Watch ProjectAnother day another idea it seems :)
It would be nice to set a global watch on a project so that users can register themselves to recieve newly created issues on a project. Perhaps even going as far as to watch certain area's.
IMO as project lead you'd want the project watch checked by default, but this of course is comming from our use case.

Resolve issue when when creatingWould be neat for the times where you log issues after you've fixed them but would still like to log them for future reference

Create issue buttonThe create issue button at the bottom of the page is causing a slight nuisence for some users, they don't see it instantly. Could there also be a button at the top ?
